Algae in Soil

Hi folks. Ive tried hydrogen Peroxide to kill the algae growing in the soil but it doesn't seem to be working. The humidity is only around 55 and the moisture in the soil generally evaporates quick enough from the heat mats placed underneath,. Whats the best way to get rid of the algae thats safe and effective? Thanks in advance.

First of all good luck. Once you get that shit it's hard to ever be rid of it. On the bright side in my experience it is more of a nuisance than anything else. But the more of it there is the more nutes and oxygen it will take away from your own roots. Best thing I can really think for soil is to try and scrape it off.

Thanks? Who's got some actual methods. I doubt this is how to actually deal with it.

Im going to try and cover the soil part around the plant with some material and see if that kills the algae because it won't be receiving any light. Maybe cutting circles of poly film and putting the black side down should do the trick.

perlite should work also, cover the soil and the perlite should dry fast, killing any algae that tries to grow on it.

I tried with perlite when i first got it because some said the same thing but they got coverd with algea also. I think sand is finer so it tumbles more and all sandcorn will be faced down sooner or later to darkness when watering.
