I really wouldnt worry about 1 400 watter. Isnt enough to even worry about.

If you were running a few 1000 watters then maybe but 1 single 400 watter. I wouldn't worry. Even if it is metered by the minute.

If it worries you that much. Hell veg 24/0. or 23/1. wouldn't be noticeable at all maybe your running a space heater 24/7 or and a/c unit for cooling a small room.

Either way 400 watts is nothing to worry about. You vaccum, fridge, heater, ac units, some computers, use more then this.

Really man no worries.
thanks guys. So what about a 600 watt hid? With all the growing equipment and etc?

Get a dimmable 600w. Randomly, run the light at full power, then sometimes dim it down to 400 for a few days. That'll confuse the shit out of them :)

I typically have 10-30 herb plants lying around in my apartment, and several more even on my balcony in the summer. If anyone even thought to question me on my electricity bill, I'd simply say I have an indoor herb grow. If they don't like it, they can get a warrant. While they're fetching a warrant based on no probable cause at all, I've got an emergency plan to have plants removed and herbs added in my tent within 10 minutes. -spek
How can you possibly do that? Do you only have one plant or something?

A small desk heater is usually rated around 1500 watts.

Dishwasher- 3000+
Dryer- 4000+
Oven- 2000+

Fuck, I think an Xbox 360 is rated somewhere between 150-200 when the disc drive and everything is running. Most computers are over 300 easily.

If you are worried about it, just compensate by keeping the rest of the house 5 degrees cooler or something. How do you know the dude/chick living next to you isn't running a couple 1500 watt personal heaters in bedrooms 12_ hours a day? That right there would be 3000 watts a day, which could easily run up the power bill by over a 100 bucks a month just with those two little heaters, if they were running constantly. We are going to replace windows in this house next year, but I know the heater my wife runs in here craft room goes non-stop to keep up with the freezing winter temps.

I'd go 600 and not worry about it. I would, however, keep things tight and clean incase you get a 24 hour inspection notice to give you time to bag it up and move it for a day. Then just put some stupid little heater in a bedroom and if the power bill is of concern, there is your answer.

Sorry, I'll let my therapist know about this huge fuck up that caused you such distress
Please do, because there is no distress here, I'd be more concerned with your complete inability to understand what you are reading though :-) I'd also look into getting tested for autism or some such, because if that post reads as distress, then you have a pretty serious inability to read any form of human emotion :-D

alright now folks lets not derail the thread

bottom line a 400w light plus some fans isn't really enough to raise any red flags, its when u start running multiple 1000w bulbs that things start looking fishy

anyone with more then 3 rep points on any internet forum is a psychological train wreck so I wouldn't worry about it to much

Oh but I do. He has pointed out what I've been hiding from my whole life. I'll never be the same! Maybe this degree in clinical psychology will prove useful after all. Now I just need to smoke enough to bring on a case of MPD and I can be my own therapist :-)

Potentially, yes. But given the legality of what is being done, unless you have a legal reason to deem yourself untouchable, it is always worth being cautious and starting off small and upgrading when you feel confident you can get away with it. You might well be able to pull off a 1kw, but start with a 400 or dimmable 600. Then once the coast is clear, think of changingmup :-)

No, I have 24 in flower at all times, a few mothers and an aerocloner. All of my flowering plants are in compact holders 8 plants each which makes them very easy to move, and my Mom's I keep short, also on a removable tray.

Some of those "smart" meters can record data precise enough that they can determine what type of appliances are running.
In Ontario power usage is monitored as time of use. We have access to this through a site and you can see the peaks and valleys. I looked at mine last week and it was pretty scary lol. I could also see that my daughter was doing a load of wash every day at 1:00 (which is peak cost lol). well at least she was doing wash lol. Our rates very by almost half depending on time so here's all the lights going on at 7 and off at 7 lol. Trust me you can see it!!! But do they care? Not sure!

I would go directly to a 1k. If your light on your lights... Your bill is maybe 75 a month depending on where you live if it all of a sudden goes up 50-75 a month... He's gonna want to know why. My bill is 150 a month with a 600w without ac. The reason I say without ac because it goes up additional during summer, in winter I use outside air. In winter, I got electric heat and it goes up to 3-400 a month. I would be wondering why the bill all of a sudden spiked... Your best bet would be to keep stuff on so it rises it naturally and then keep everything off when you get your light so it balances out.

You could run way more than that and be fine.

Is using electricity illegal or something people? Pay your bill and worry about what's for dinner. Supreme court just ruled this year that the home is protected from k9 searches without a warrant. Your power records are all ready protected and requires police to have a warrant to view your power records.

So cover all your other basis by not selling/telling/smelling, and really no one should be getting busted aside from stinky grows and profiteers.

No warrant is required to view your power records. In some areas, my own included, one can view the power consumption of any building just by inputting the address. Some power companies routinely notify local police of "suspicious" consumption.
