Hey fellow smokers and tokers....
I'm starting grow journal #2 after grow #1 ended with my single plant showing its balls to me... and action that resulted in my plant's decapitation.
Anyway, this time around I've got ALL FEMINIZED seeds, and man, if I had one piece of advice to give after my first grow, it would be to spend the extra money on feminized seeds if you are growing straight from seed. The other piece of advice I have is to grow more than one plant. If you think about the time and effort you would put into one plant, it is only like 5% more effort to do it for 2 plants, and so on....
Obviously that doesn't mean to grow 1000 plants, but obviously if you have room to grow 6 plants instead of 4, then grow 6!
Ok, now onto my setup:
18 Gallon Rubbermaid from Target - Reservoir
6 x 4" Net pots
2 Long Airstones
1 Dual Air Pump for oxidizing water
250watt CMH lamp
1 x White Widow
1 x Himalayan Gold
1 x Durban Poision
2 x G13 Haze
~All seeds feminized~
Nutes by GH. 30% Concentration right now.
I went with the 18 Gallon Reservoir just because it is SIGNIFICANTLY larger in size than most DWC systems that have room for 6 plants. I wanted to see if the extra room allowed for better root growth, which would allow for better nutrient feeding, aka fatter buds to smoke later.
I germinated all the seeds using the wet paper towel method, which gave me 100% success.
I then grew the plants in rockwool cubes for about 10 days.... pretty much until I saw roots starting to come out of the bottom of the rockwool cubes. Then I transplanted them into the DWC system. It took a week before the roots reached the water, which meant I had to top-feed the plants in the beginning.
