There's been a lot of discussion about CRI - the general consensus is that the higher CRI cobs may have a slightly better spectrum, but give up a lot of efficiency in the process. Basically the higher CRI cobs put out less light, so it's better to go with the lower CRI cob that puts out more photons. I don't think the decor series is available anywhere, so that's a problem too.
The Vero 29 3000k v2 puts out a lot of red and will work good for flower - it's what I"m using now, but I supplemented mine with some royal blue 3 watt LEDs since the 3000k v2 is pretty low in the blue spectrum (less blue than the Cree CXB 3000k cobs). The Vero 29 4000k is popular too - it's got a good red spectrum with a bit more blue than the 3000k. If I were to build a light today, I'd probably go with 4000k Vero 29 or 3500k Cree for flowering. If you want an HPS like spectrum, go with the 3000k Vero 29.
yeah you right , 4000k have same red once passed 610-620nm ~ , but lot of more i think ill choose 4000k
like can make veg and bloom without changed lamp .

Thx :)

I forgot to mention if you look at my avatar pic, you can see my upper cabinet has Vero 18 5000k cobs in it for veg, and the lower flower cabinet has the Vero 29 v2 3000k before i added the royal blue leds. The 3000k is pretty orange - not quite as orange as HPS but in the ball park.

ok , i just buy 4000k from digikey , now , i hesitate with driver .

they look very similar , i dunno the difference between both .
Its CC and CV too , mean that driver delivered 42V , not less ? ( vero run at 38V )
I risk to burn them ?

meinolf : yeah i saw there is more yellow and green too in 4000k compared too 3000k ;)

I think the NPF model has an adjustment screw for current and voltage - I remember others asking about these drivers and I think they would work for a Vero 29, but don't remember the specifics on what happens when you adjust the screws. I do know when you set the current (in your case at 2.1 amps), the COB will use only use the voltage it needs, so the driver might be rated up 42 volts, but if the cob only needs 38v, then it only uses 38v.
The LPF model looks like it would run a single Vero 29 pretty well at 2.1 amps. There's no adjustment screws, but it's a little cheaper.
Maybe someone who's used the NPF model could help out.

Either of those drivers linked will work for you application. If keeping budget in mind you can go with the cheaper version as the CV is not needed in this application. Took a look at both datasheets and almost identical. Very little difference between the two. If you want dimming functions you can always go with LPF-90D-42 also.

I believe that supraspl tried different types of paste and said that there's not enough difference in temps between expensive and regular one, so to buy stock paste...
How do you guy spread tim on your cobs?
Have a great day ★

Ahhh you meant the 200bucks was for the lot. If you wernt in a rush you could have waited on my order to come in for the veros and I could have sent some out alot cheaper. I only ordered 5 because it was the minimum order quantity.

I'm going to be using cheap drivers which were like £7.50 each

Also these heatsink are what I have are awesome and silent and about £8 each

I was just reading a thread earlier where SupraSPL tested the difference between the stock thermal paste that comes already on some CPU heatsinks VS the better stuff and there was no measurable difference.

Not at standard temps but if things start to overheat it could be the difference between a friend cob and a saved cob

Pay for what you get, Cheap drivers will not outlast a good efficient meanwell driver. I have read about many cheap drivers taking a dive off the deep end. That meanwell driver you linked to is 91% efficient. The cheap ones are probably under 80 lol

For someone on a budget who wants to upgrade later they're fine, plenty of pics of lambos broken down if you look for them.......

Warranties on meanwell hlg drivers have been extended from 5 years to 7 years... You get what you pay for, and there is nothing worse than a light going out halfway through flowering when you only have enough space to crawl through the grow.

well maybe the Borg are worse!

I'm not arguing that you get what you pay for, but you only ever hear horror stories online. Ive used Chinese drivers on incubators for years without any issues, Iv never had problems with any Chinese electrical stuff , alright the build quality isnt cracking but they do the job
So for people on a budget they're more than capable of lasting a year or 3. Just don't push them last their limits
