My dad received a phone call today from a government employee. I had to listen in and comment occasionally due to my dad's Alzheimer's. Apparently my Grandfather's brother had land not far from us he purchased about 70 years ago. It was being used for oil drilling and mineral exploration. He died about 20 years ago. They started drilling and digging over 40 years ago. The man was calling around to find the descendants of my grandfather's brother. Apparently the money owed could be in the millions. ::sigh::

Oh well, I hope they put the money to good use.

Do you know if he owns the oil and gas rights? or just the surface rights?
 
Or it could be a scam... Send us the money for the legal fees and we will send you your million dollar cheque lol.

Nope it was legit. He even directed us to a website for his government organization. We gave him the number of his oldest son. They really need the money. I'm so happy for them and at the same time jealous as hell. :p
 
Yeah, atleast the money is going to the right people who deserve it instead of the company being greedy.
