hyroot - horizon herbs is great for comfrey - follow the link a few posts back. bocking 14 root cuttings is what you are looking for, if I remember right they were about $5 each?

maybe we should start a comfrey thread...

Still can't find anything about using the gel directly from the plant boss.
Any experience?
Everything I see involves using an aloe juice.
Been looking over at IC which has more on it than anywhere else I've been able to find.

Guys, I suspect this is an old wives (ok, old stoners) tale. It does look similar to rootex/clonex gel etc. However, it's missing active ingredients.
Now, mix it with aspirin or willow bark and then you maybe on to something.

Wait is the question whether just squeezing the jelly from Aloe Vera plants will work for clones? If so I don't have complete results for all the clones just yet, however since I've been doing that exact method I got 2 Trainwreck clones within like 7-9 days of putting them in there. All you do is squeeze the jelly out of the Aloe until you get about 2oz I believe, then you dilute it into a gallon of water and put that solution into a spray bottle and that is what you spray your clones with every day. I can't wait to see what my results for the rest will be, but these are the best looking clones I've ever had.

i'd dip em in the gel first for good measure, then proceed w/ the foliar as planned. a little dip can't hurt

also you could soak the medium (rockwool, rapidrooters, etc.) in an aloe solution for a few hrs

i still like to use cootz method :bigjoint:

Good deal. I'll try a bit out on clones here in a month or so for sure, but was looking into using it to kinda coat my leaves with it the same way we'd do out skin ya know?!
Don't really wanna feed with it, just coat them to protect the leaves a little from the elements.
Doe that even make since lol?
I mean I'll take any additional benefit it may provide, but I'm specifically looking to coat the leaves with it to protect them.

So I'll use it maybe once a week up until the beginning of flower.

nah lol I wanna make the gel into the juice by diluting it, then using it as a foliar.
And about to meet some guy on craigslist for worms so I can FINALLY get on board with vermicomposting :joint:

Cheers on the vermicomposting, I just got started recently too and so far its going awesome.

As for aloe foliar, I do it 3-4 times a week...cut 2 fresh aloe leaves, puree the gel as best as I can and add it to my 32oz spray bottle...add tiny amount of silica and spray em til they're dripping...they love it.

I did my first aloe / kelp spray earlier. Fillet the leaf. Cut away all the green. I just chopped it up fine with a good knife. Then brewed that n kelp meal in a tea. Only brewed / aerated it for a few hours. Figured that was enough to steep the kelp and aloe gel. Now I have to wait for my aloe plants to grow larger to be able to take more.

yup you are correct!

hyroot - you should've used the aloe right away...kelp can be steeped for a while, but aloe reacts with oxygen and you start losing the beneficial compounds after roughly 20 minutes. not the end of the world, but next time use it immediately!

on another note - some things are just too obvious to be seen....the 200x aloe powder can be used as a rooting powder..can't believe I didn't think of that. testing 1/2 my clones this time w/ the powder...will post back with results. definitely seems like the way to go

Also read that mixing in lemon juice w/ the fresh fillet preserves it somewhat, so you can use it outside of that 20minute window.

hence the citric acid in the "preservative free" brands of aloe...the problem is getting the dilution right, and i'm not sure where to start with that.

the real question is - why are we trying to store it in the first place?
