Am I crazy to be excited about growing some bagseed?

So I have about $800 worth of awesome genetics either here or on the way...Kali Mist, Pennywize, Durban Poison, Jack's Cleaner 2, The Church, Original Haze, ColumbiaxLambsbread, Pandora's Box...plus about 8 others...

I've been thinking about what to grow next (I grow two plants at a time). So I'm talking to a friend and she tells me about a time she bought an ounce from a dealer and it was 60% seeds. She kept them, grew some out, but had to cut early and didn't know how to cure. She showed me a pic of her plant on her terrace. No care at all. Leaf structure looks Sativa dom, but maybe a 60/40 or 70/30 hyrbrid. Ridiculously robust. And a few weeks before she harvested she cut the plant in half and threw out the top because she was worried neighbors would see it. And she still pulled 1.5 ounces. She said it always tasted grassy and was fluffy, but she really didn't know how to cure. She has about 200 seeds.

She's going to give me 30 seeds, and in exchange I'll grow two out and (assuming both females), split the first harvest with her.

So I have all these great seeds ready to go, and I'm thinking my next grow will be The Unknown Seeds.

Am I crazy??? Am I making a mistake???

No. I have had great results with bag seed. I haven't done many but the few I have done made me happy. That's all that truly matters in the end eh? :-)I

EDIT: I'd give less weed than half a harvest for 30 randoms. Lol.

Honestly,

No you are not crazy. Reason being, all bag seeds come from medium to dank genetics. You never know what you will come upon. What is important is the way you threat said bag seeds. That genetic can be weak to someone who is not able to dial it in, not able to grow it properly, lack of knowing how to feed her. You can give the same genetic to an experienced grower and it'll be fire dank.

This is why usually when my friends bring some bag seeds and ask me if they should grow it or not. I always tell them, grow it and give it as much love as you would with your fav strain. You never know what results you will have. You might find something that will be the #1 strain every one want to grow.

Also, unless you order from reputable breeder , lot of people on the street lot to give names to random strains for appeal and sale marketing. In the end, there is chance that you land on something massively potent that had a weak name because the seller wanted a different name on a random strain he had or the opposite might happen. You might think it' ll be dank but turn out, its weak.

So yeah, give it a try and keep us informed on your luck!

Have fun!

I'm still a novice grower, I'm on my 5th grow . Sprouting seeds now. They are in paper towel . Anyways, and I still do bag seeds. Tis last harvest I found 1 small seed so I'm gonna plant it and grow it out this time, hopefully its better then what it came from!! Win win for me. Plus no spending money on buying seeds. The bagseeds look just as good as the pictures on seed banks

I agree with BigBilly, i believe you might be underselling your role in this as the grower.
As anybody will tell you, genetics are less than half the battle. Just because the genes are good, does NOT mean the bud will be good.
Thats up the the SKILL of the grower. For 30 rndm regs, you're hard work and effort to make those babies frosty is worth more than half the fruits of your labor, IMO.

i agree with everyone else 25% is more fair & possibly high considering youre doing all the work weeding out males etc. as far as bagseed goes good shit is wherever you find it

I also agree, the final product is always going to be way better than what the seeds came from. That is, as long as it's grown right and dried and cured correctly.

To All Who Thought Half Was A Lot: Ooooh, you all have a good point. She's a good friend, so I had added that into the equation. But I'm going to revise the deal to 25%. I think she'll be very happy with that since she has 10x that number. AND she has to come and trim...

No, you're not crazy at all to do that. I would just tell her you forgot to take into account that statistically, half of the seeds are going to be male plants, so you need to revise it to 25%. I've smoked some awesome "no name" weed.
