Am I going to have enough light?

I just bought this and have it mounted in my (about 4x7) closet. I have it set up so I can adjust the height from the plants. Is this going to be enough power for a few plants? I know there are a ton better I can use, but is this going to work? I can get a few more bulbs in there if needed, just want to make sure I am starting off strong. Please give any suggestions, will post a picture of the closet in a second.

++ I took the glass cover off the spot light, warmth isn't a worry, room stays between 70-80 F

Edit, closet. Need to pain, ( or mylar)

for a 65 watter....might be enough to veg...1..maybe 2 plants in that space...gonna need a lot more then that for flower...i would get a few smaller cfls and put them all around the plants...and make sure you get the right color temps for veg and flower...6500k for veg...2700k for flower

So how much would you say lighting should cost me for the 'basic' set up? I just want to make sure that when my grow starts, I start off strong and on the right foot. Thanks for your help!

try for about 40 watts a sqaure foot....as djruiner said, add some CFLs youl be ok. It wont cost you a fortune for 2 65 watt CFls ($35) and a 16" fan of some sort ($10-15). Just estimates.

it really depends on what you want to spend...and how much space you have to grow...for the best results...imo...veg them with cfl's the flower under an hps...for a decent amount of cfls...with all the sockets and such id say around $20 for the bulbs and $5 a piece for the sockets...and thats with the light you have now...and for a decent hps its going to be at least $130-$150..you can find some on ebay for around $80 for a 150 watter...but those cheaper ones are iffy and will probably blow on you in a few months time....im currently growing with all cfls for my entire grow...for everything ive got i have about $250-$300 invested for all the stuff ive bought over time

You can even buy a high bay shop lamp 400 hps off ebay for dirt cheap...i got one for $45 with bulb /balast . All i has to do was wire the socket to the balast and paid $15 for a batwing shader. Its not the most efficient 400 in the world but its a shitload better than anything else for that price.

thisis what it looks like

Yea, budget isn't a HUGE deal but on the same aspect, it would be $200 max for the lighting, expecially since I am just doing a small set up. Thanks for your help so far, I have to make a list of stuff to buy and work with that.

In your honest opinion, should I take back the spot light and just get some CFLs? I paid $70 for that damn thing and it doesn't even seem worth it now.. :-|

Thanks again for all your help guys / gals!

$70...for 65 watts...no its not worth it at all...i got 4 65 watt giant ass cfls for $25...id take that $70 and get a hps for flower...you can get a 150 watt one for that from htg on ebay...and get 4-6 26 watt 6500k bulbs with a couple sockets and some splitters with a power supply strip...lowes has 5 packs of those bulbs for under $10..splitters are like $2 a piece

Would a 150W HPS light like this do the trick for flowering?

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

:-| Every time I feel like I am doing things right, I end up taking something back. Again, I just want to make sure I have all the right stuff to start.

More info, I will be attempting to grow Northern Lights in a hydroponic setup.

EDIT:
Ok, thanks, I will be taking that back tomorrow.. After I unwire and remove the chains -_-.

with that you would still have to buy a bulb for it...would be better off getting one on ebay made for growing...those security lights will get really really hot in your grow area since the ballast is built in..get one with a remote ballast...one like this will have everything you would need...and no shitty wiring that might be a fire hazard like with the security lights.....http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydroponic-150-Watt-Complete-HPS-Grow-Light-System-150w-/120636963801?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1685fbd9#ht_14816wt_1139....all that for $80 shipping and all..not a remote ballast...but vented to help displace the heat

You can get a HID easy if 200 is your budget for lighting. In my opinion 250 watt is the minimum you want to use.
