Am I Missing Anything?

This will be my first grow, but I'd like to do it right!
I'm planning on buying:

Secret Jardin DR60 (2x2x5)
400 watt MH - Blue
400 watt HPS
6" Cool tube
18" Winged reflector
4" Exhaust Fan
HPS/MH electronic ballast
4" Odor-x carbon filter
Thermometer


I'd like to grow 2 or 3 plants if possible. Is the sizing correct? I'm still unsure on a few things.
Does the brand of bulb make a difference? They vary a LOT in price!

And do I only need to use the cool tube with the HPS?

I really appreciate any help/advice I get! Thanks!

How bout a oscilating fan? Preventative measures for bugs and fungus? Get a therm hygro combo so you can see both... timers. measuring cup.ph kit or meter.

I would recommend a quality Tri Meter... or just individual meters for PH/PPM/Temp... i have a hannah or however you spell it, the black 3 in one, its kindof spensive but well worth it. also the brand of light can mean the worl but cheaper lamps will still produce quality buds, and since your a first timer a cheaper light seem more reasonable. and as far as the cool tube, the hps will run alot hotter that the MH or atleast similar, i would just keep the cool tube on the hps because airflow is most important in flowering... equally important in veg but can make do with good air movement in the veg room

Ok, I'm getting a tri-meter and will look into pest control options. I already have an oscillating fan. Thanks guys!

would definitely recommend going up to the DR90 (or even 120) if you can... the 60 is a very tight squeeze even for 1 (big one) or 2 (medium).. nothing worse than battling for space in your grow area..

also the temp will be easier to control in a slightly larger area..

Thanks! I live in a small apartment so I don't want anything too big, but I'm sure I can find somewhere to put it lol

Nutrients and grow medium obviously. You say you have a 6'' air cooled hood and a 4'' inline fan? I guess you'll be needing a reducer to hook that up.

I'm debating between coco and soil right now. Organic soil obviously, but I can't get fox farm in Canada. I have Technaflora nutrients. And yeah I didn't realize I needed to match the sizes because I'm stupid.. Should I be getting a 6" inline instead?

A muffler fit right down my secret jardin 120's ceiling vent sleeve...I suspended my fan below the roof vent and the muffler went on top...reduced noise quite a bit. I opted for the sunleaves fan over the vortex mainly because it was encased in hard plastic and was quieter.

you can grow more than 2 plants in that setup. not sure about the nutes with coco, since ive only grown in soil.

So I could even grow 3 if I wanted? I think I'll stick to 2 for my first grow though. What soil do you use? I can't get Fox Farms in Canada. :(
