thanks for the advise humble, i didnt know this was in the flowering stage already. its got to be close to 2 months old now. so i shouldnt take clones now?
Hey, trees, as long as the plant is popping pistils like you show in your original picture, it's gotta be in the flower stage! If you haven't already flipped the lights to 12/12 and induced this flowering stage on your own, there is a chance that you have an autoflowering strain--i.e., a strain that will flower on its own, regardless of photoperiod, and without the specific need of a 12 hour dark period that most strains require to produce the flowering hormone.
If you have induced flowering, and the plant is popping pistils because you have switched the light cycle to 12/12, you can still clone, but like I said, many growers advise against cloning in the flowering stage. I take clones off of vegetative plants that are kept under 24 hour light. While some growers will advise a dark period of at least 4 hours for all plants, I have seen no adverse effects from growing vegetative plants under 24 hour light for the last year. We're talking dozens of plants.
I take my clones off of these vegetative plants just before I am ready to throw them into flowering. This allows me to run a perpetual garden in which I have no delay between cycles. As soon as a huge bush or six come out, a huge bush or six go right back into flower. Since I take clones from vegetative plants, I have 100% success, and my clones produce roots in 7-10 days, with 14 days being the longest I have ever waited to see roots.
The age of a plant does not usually matter as far as cloning goes. You can keep a mother plant alive for 2 years if you give her the right nutes and light and keep her roots clean enough, taking clones off of her every day. What matters is the photoperiod the plant is in.
I hope this helps!
