An accidental epiphany....

Ok... So i was just down with the girls and accidently stumbled upon why i had no sucess last year when i tried a water farm.... long story short... when i was checking the girls in the evening i was checking the ph with the liquid ph checking thing..... it comes out a different colour under hps lights... meaning what i thought was ph 5-6 was 4-5..... i tortured that poor plant... plant.... im sorry... is this common knowlege ??? and i know i was being a cheapo for using them.... thought id share...

So you didn't realise that a bright as fuck orange coloured light would impact on the colour reading of your test???

Just looking at the colour of your green leaves under the light vs not under the light should have told you that.

Besides IMO in hydro you should realistically own a pH meter and a nutrient strength meter.

I have to dissagree, to me soil is retarded, go hydro.

Look.... there's no doubt it was slightly retarded, ill admit that, and to be sure i noticed a difference in leaf colour, but i certainly wouldnt have thought that it would have changed the colour of the fluid from pink to orange... anyway thought i'd share my mistake, that i made in my 3rd year of growing so that anyone noobs dont have to waste a couple of months.... i was in the lucky position that the hydro was an experiment and loosing that plant didnt effect my yield...
