An idea for flavor curing

I have read numerous pages worth of material on flavor curing, i myself am thinking of curing some of my blueberry with a blueberry flavor enhancer but havent found anything that would work. i suppose crushed blueberries wrapped in lots of cheese cloth would work.

The idea i had was to use truffles to cure. This would be the upscale weed of the century and i bet it would sell well in LA and vegas lol. My dream is to one day own a truffle farm in the Willamette valley in NW oregon and grow white truffles to compete with the french market. the truffle market is still in its infancy 9it takes 7 years for a hazlenut trees and the spores to mature)..dreams will be dreams though

EXplain further the idea plz sir
well its pretty simple once you think about it. Truffles have a seriousl intense odor that has been known to stink up a house with just a sall 2 inch truffle. (even more potent than weed). Truffles depend on animals to dig them up and spread the pores to other foliage (such as the hazlenut tree) so they depend on their odour. They are highly valued because of their unique taste and time it takes to grow.

The method i would use would be to take a few slices off of a truffle bought at a locale upscale market and take and slice them and wrap them in cheese clothe and put in with the weed during curing. Weed has the ability to absorb smell very well. Have you ever stored your weed with a swisher sweet or menthol and then smoked the weed and it tasted like the swisher? I might have to try it once i find 50 bucks to drop on a golfball size black truffle!! truffles also lose potency and flavour over time so storage for later cures is out of the question. bon appetite :joint:

Heres a link to 1/4 lb of oregon black truffles on a great site that sells truffles. Im thinking of going with the oregon black truffle seeing as it is 1/3 the price of the blacks imported from italy. Its already the end of winter truffle season, but there are still great truffles out there.

Im really considering getting the white truffle oil or the dark truffle oil as well and i think the honey would be a mess.

im thinking the best way would be to soak some paper towel, and then wrap that in cheese clothe. i dont want to get the oil on the bud i just want it in the jars with it so the smell can be exchanged.

Ill be trying it on an ounce of some bud ill be harvesting in a little over a month. If the truffle oil dosent work than ill give it to my bro whos a cook for his b-day lollll

omg i am getting some white truffle honey asap

I would have to say that adding things to your weed during curing is not a good idea. If you like certain smells and tastes, take a look at the flavor chart/wheel on the greenhouse website. You can match up flavor with strain.

this sounds cool but like do truffles smell good? if they smell like normal mushrooms i would not buy weed that smelled like that.. try strawberry or orange peel slivers.

I think that is a bold statement saying that adding in a flavor during curing is a bad idea without ever had tried it or even know what ill effects might result. I would say let him experiment and he may just have a revolutional idea with no ill effects just a smoother sweet smelling smoke. Just MHO dude.

I think what may have been overlooked is that the idea of flavoring pot is nothing new. Back in the 60’s and 70’s people were trying the same things as people today think up but because everyone think they have come up with something new and because there is no real recorded history of the time people always think they just invented the wheel. The point being that for decades many people have experiments and so far no one has come up with a way that is sure fire and practical so the odds are not great that tomorrow someone will stumble across something that hasn’t been tried before.

As Ole’ Willie put it:

If there be nothing new, but that which is hath been before, how are our brains beguiled, which, laboring for invention, bear amiss The second burden of a former child.

In more modern English:

If there is nothing new under the sun, but that which has been before, how are our brains cheated, which, toiling to create something new, mistakenly! Brings forth something that already exists!

I have tried something similar to this several times. Never with blueberries although I have used Citrus fruits and even kool-aid (Both I Regret). If you have some that tastes like blueberry in the first place I would stick with it as is. Years ago I found out the hard way not to mess with your pot! I always would have rather had it the way it was when I got it. Good luck to you

Thanks for the comments guys, but like i said, i am def not going to try it with the first batch probably just with a half oz or oz to try. The reason truffles sound promising is because of their smell and flavor. They have a unique earthy flavor that i believe will go great with bud. Trial and error is how weed has come a long way from what it was in the 70's. Oh and im sure a cooking store would sell blueberry extract or flavor but if the blueberrys already smell dank enough than ill leave it all be.

I wouldn't discourage someone from experimenting because that is how progress is born. All great inventors were badgered by nay sayers but they didn't give up until they were sucessful. I think if they can put menthol in tobaco then why not pot?

I think its a great idea, I've been trying to replicate malawi cob here in the states...

You wrap your dried weed in dry bannana peel and wrap corn husk around it tie it closed several time and bury it underground like 2 feet where it won't get wet only underground mustyness...
Trying it here though will be fun... get it in malawi gorgeous stuff!
I say good luck to you bro it alway good to have a jar full of somethin real special even if it only your fav strain dipped in honey hash oil, always good to have somethin special

There have honestly been countless ammounts of threads devoted to the farming of truffles.

The problem is that even if you have the perfect conditions for truffles to grow (especially white truffles) then you still have a slim chance to actually grow them.

They are a wonder of nature and they grow in almost a magical way. You may have a better chance at producing Diamonds or Gold in all honesty :)

Yea your right, i read that sometimes the success rate of growth is 50%. But purchasing young plants with innoculated roots is a pretty efficient way.

It is not a bad idea but it is an idea that has been experimented many, many times over through the years by many, many people and no one has yet come up with a single way that is something enough people like for it to catch on and when people merely duplicate other’s failed efforts that is not really experimentation, it is a waste of time.

Menthol flavoring? It has been done and done by a business and not by an individual out of their home. It was called Dinky Dew.

In the 70’s you could buy tiny bottles of highly concentrated menthol/mint liquid, Dinky Dew, and a single drop on a joint or a bowl and it was super menthol. A number more drops in a bag and it was super menthol. It did not catch on. Dinky Dew died out. People preferred the taste of pot over the taste of menthol.

Have tastes changed that much since the 70's and now menthol pot will become the rage? Or is it that people today just do not know that it has been tried and it has been achieved and it was a flop so they now try to replicate that failure thinking they will actually discover something that has never been discovered before and because of that think they will not also fail?

I would hate someone if they put something into my weed. smells are tiny particles of the substance. just grow better weed. my mango nugs taste like mango and smell like oranges. people call it mang-a-tang. they have blueberry, strawberry cough, blackberry, whatever. just do it the right way. might as well buy those drops to flavor tobacco and just put it on all your stuff.........
Truffle business will not be successful cause its like a ecosystem going on in other parts of the world and has been for hundreds of years. trying to duplicate that would be so hard and take so long that by the time its done, I could of been in europe with my pig walking around the forest with baskets full and come back here to sell them like 20 times and you would still have saplings just starting out in the dirt. sorry to burst a bubble but for real. and if weed has anything else on it its bunk bro, thats like coke dealers putting yellow or pink cut into their supply. It wont sell any better, people will find out its fake and you wont be able to sell anything

If you go to a specialty or luxury grocery store you can buy extract in a bunch of flavors I have heard this is a fool proof way to dry your herb. I am not sure about all extracts but most are like 79% alcohol which I would guess would help with bugs and mold while drying. That is just speculation however.
