DISCLAIMER - I understand there are many different ways of growing marijuana, and many people manipulate growing situations to enhance flower yield, and this causes some people to say "well this works" and another says "well that works"..
A friend of mine and I were discussing how far plants should be spaced apart, and had trouble coming to a common ground with eachother on what was right - specifically on sativa strain. We have both seen Indoor/Outdoor/Rogue sativa growing in very close proximity to one another in the same soil (6 inches or less at times). Since sativa most times tends to grow tall, they seem to be much more tolerant of close proximity. I have seen a few threads on different websites including "rollitup", where some growers say that if the root structures come into close contact with each other that you can end up with your plants health deteriorating or possibly dying..however on the contrary people grow marijuana under other growing
vegetation to hide the marjuana plant. If the root structure being damaged hypothosis is correct, then how are these marijuana plants growing
underneath other vegetation surviving and thriving? Another thought that comes to mind is how closely
many marijuana plants will grow to each other at guerilla sites in the woods...also in the woods there are many variables - soil quality being one of them. My friend and I were just seeing alot of negativity about close proximity growing and how it
can be "deadly", however we are experiencing a "there are two edges to this sword" effect. In the next sentences when I say *Many people say* it simply means this is the majority opion IN MY OPINION of the readings I have done on sites such as *Rollitup
1) Many people say that regular dirt is insufficient to grow thriving marijuana, but fields of bud in the forest thrive and I am currently having success with a young sativa in a bowl of regular dirt from outside. I understand that enhanced soil is better, but it seems in my research of late people claim that regular dirt from outside doesn't work more often than it does.
2) Many people say that close proximity to other vegetation/flora/etc (including other marijuana plants) can/may killl the plant, however marijuana plants thrive with much vegetation around them in indoor/rogue/outdoor sites all around the world. I have read also that when some roots are in close proximity promote and share growth amongst each other via depositing/repositing nurtrients both indoors and outdoors.
3) Many people say that you need drainage/ventilation holes at the bottom of an indoor plant container, but I have seen some growers post/say that putting holes in the bottom of your medium encourages dehydration and exhaustion of valuable nutrients/materials that the plant would benefit in keeping in the soil, however nutrient levels and water levels must be more closley monitored and dispersed in a plant medium with no drainage holes.
I understand that I am simply comparing opinions on various growers in various situations, however I seem to find more often that not growers claiming that certain growing methods often kill plants when used, such as the 3 methods above. I understand that when you use enhanced soil/water/lighting/draining/spacing that your yield of flower may be greater, but not totally necessary to a healthy plant. Replicating mother nature seems to be the overall objective of growing indoors or in an outdoor-controlled-grow-situation.
So After typing all of this and going through many threads and posts, we have both come to the conclusion that it is just a matter of preference because the MJ plant can be grown and can thrive in so many different ways. It can be a bother however to see growers trying to pass off opinions as fact, such as the near-to-other plants and roots proximity issue. Growers with this and similiar attitudes have the "If you dont chew Big Red then Fuck You" moral.I realize I have completley elaborated on all my questions, therefore there really leaving no answer other than what I have already answered myself. So I just decided I would post this anyways because I thought well fuck it I typed it wasting my time so I'll waste yours. Oh, ya, and if you Chew Big Red
then Fuck You
