This is grown from bag seed so I have no idea what strain it is.

I planted 8 germinated seeds on 5/15 into 20oz water bottles with the top cut off.. For the first 10-12 days they were just sitting on the floor of my closet with 3x 55watt CFL(2700) hanging from above. Then I transplanted them into 6" pots on the 28th. For now my soil is Miracle Grow Organic Choice Potting Mix with 1/2 the recommended slow release nutes mixed into it. Yesterday morning I acquired a large cardboard box that I lined with a heat shield blanket from my first aid kit. After moving them into the cardboard box I also added 3x 26watt(6500).

The plants have really grown over night, but today when I got home from work I noticed one leaf had some yellowish spots which I think were caused from the light being to close. I've attached a picture to this post of it, as well as one of an "overview" of my current setup.

I have kept the lights on 24 hours a day for the last week or so but I plan to switch to 12/12 tomorrow so I can eventually get rid of the males. In the end I want to keep 3 females.

Any advice, or input will be considered! Also does it look like that is a burn from light?

The leaves aren't yellow, in fact they are very green, that is just the effect from all the lighting. But there is one leaf with some yellow spots. Thanks, it is very makeshift! I plan to get a medium sized dresser for my "grow box" when I find one that is cheap enough to tear apart.

Cheap dresser? Jump in the pickup truck and cruise around the neighborhood in the morning. People set them out to the curb all the time. Trash day is a good day. Where I live, my neighborhood has several different trash removal companies - you sign up with the one you like. So on any given day of the week different people have their trash cans set out. There's always somebody getting rid of a dresser.

If you live in an area where everybody has the same "city" collection service - then most will set their cans out on the same day. This is the day you want to go driving around and find that old dresser.

Just be sure and check it for bugs. I picked up an old dresser once - many years ago - and tossed it in the back of my truck. When I got home and opened the tailgate - there was about 50 cock roaches in there!! I made a bee line for the grocery store and bought a can of Raid. Then I drove to the park and yanked that dresser out. Sprayed it down and also the inside of my truck bed.

If I had done this in the dark and not noticed the bugs - can you imagine the night mare I'd have brought into my house?

Check the local college dormitory as well. It's the end of the school year and lots of students move out and leave furniture behind. It gets tossed out back near the dumpster.

Yeah that basically what I mean by cheap dresser. As long as the outside and the front of the drawers are in decent condition that's all I need. Unfortunately I live in a pretty small town. Someone posted a free dresser on craigslist today but I was working and its gone now. I plan to glue the front of the drawers in place and basically hollow out the dresser. I think it will work good and be good camouflage for when family visits.

hey donkey... is your name a ClerksII reference,? or are you just a sick fuck... lol just messin... hey i'm a noob as well but by the looks of your soil you didn't use any perelite, I haven't used mg soil but I've read that it doesn't always drain well. also, only from reading, using the time release mg is probably the only nutes you'll need for a little while. oh and can't really tell how close your lights are but you want them about 2in away from your babies. they look good, good luck

I wanted my user name to be donkeykong but it was taken.. go figure :) I was listening to a radio show online called the donkey show, so it just fit!

You are correct I didn't add perlite to my soil mix but it is kind of late now however in two days the soil has dried out pretty well and I will water in the morning. I can't get my lights much lower at the moment but it is something I am working on. I need more lamp cords, a better system for hanging them, and overall a little bit bigger space. Should have those by the weekend as I have the next two days off work.

Thanks for the input

I'm new, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's nute burn from even using 1/2 the recommended slow release nutes. I say this because those spots look a bit similar but not as bad as the spots I had on my plant that I'm pretty sure was from using full non-organic miracle grow soil as a last/emergency resort. My plant has bounced back very well, so I'd say if both of our yellowness was caused by the same thing, then yours should probably be okay, just don't put any food/nutes/whatever into it yet, and ask somebody more experienced than me. If you wanna check out my plant for a comparison, it's in this section (the CFL one) under the name "First grow-Diary of a "growing" obsession"

looks good though! I'll be watching!

Also, I believe it should be okay to go get perlite and more soil and mix it together for the future when you transplant. Perlite's like 5 bucks at walmart. I'm not an expert in nutes so the dude above me might be right about the time release you put in being just enough. Do you have ventilation going through the dresser or wherever the plants are now? I know little girls like to breathe for sure. Also, I think they might like some dark time, from the little reading I've done I think it helps root growth, but I'm not sure you want to force them to show sex now, I've heard that stresses them out a lot, just one noob's input though, like it so far!

Do you have a space issue? Is that why you wanna flip for a few days? I would wait to throw them in the dark. You should consider LST/low stress training or sog/screen of green (i think). I would have done sog had I known about it when I started. You could have space for more than you think

Thanks barbor, it may indeed be nute burn just weird that it is only one 1 leaf of 1 plant out of 8 total. I think it will be alright especially because it hasn't spread or anything. I did check out your thread, thinking back I wish I would have started with just 2 or 3 plants. Originally I had 14. Cat got a couple when she got into my closet, and I pulled a couple just because of lack of space. Yes when I transplant the 2 or 3 that I keep I will be mixing better soil that includes perlite among other things like worm castings that I have been reading about. I've decided to not do 12/12 yet and instead do 18/6 for a few more weeks.

I have somewhat of a space issue, I need a stealth setup because I am renting among other things. I'm hoping to keep my grow contained inside a dresser as I've mentioned already. I do not know much about LST or SOG but I've seen other's talk about it. Will be looking into those techniques today I guess.

Yes I would agree that from what I've read miracle grow is garbage, I thought I'd be better off with the organic choice miracle grow but I guess not. Can I flush(using 3x pot size in water) to get all those nutes out of my soil to protect my plants? I'm just not sure how that would work with the slow release nutes I added.
