Another noobie wanting help :)

First of all I want to say I think its amazing how much everyone helps each other out on this forum, its really cool to see how helpful and openly knowledgeable people are here

Anyways better get on with it... I've been thinking about growing for a while now but since I'm almost out of weed and want to do something I've never done before I thought I might take up growing, depending on how hard it is.

I have a bit of cash but then again I'm not really sure on how much this is going to cost.
I've got a tiny little grow box for my first time, H:60cm W:45cm D:40 but I can always construct something. My stoner ingenuity is quite good haha.
I have 1 seed at the moment from the last batch of really good weed I got but I might source a few from a friend... So I'd be trying for around 2-4 seedlings and depending if they're male or female I'd want to help 2-3 mature and grow.. I can only share and smoke so much!

So I was thinking
Germinate/Seedling = Anything? Maybe MH?
Vegetative = MH (Blues are better?)
Flowering = HPS (Reds are better?)
Also, reflectiveness? I was thinking of spraying the inside white or covering it with tin foil? Hahahaha

I've been trolling around here for awhile and I've notice some growers skipping the majority of the vegetative faze and just going to the flowering stage to keep the plants size down, is this a good idea? Also, I'm from New Zealand so I don't have access to sites/companies in the US so someone from NZ telling me where I can procure this stuffs would be awesome =) Anyone telling me specific brands, types or anything like that would be great too... I'm probably pretty average with wiring too, I'll look up a couple tutorials though

Smell, Airflow and temp won't be a problem I can DIY/Monitor all of that stuffs... (temp is supposed to be around 70, right?)

Also, I was thinking of having an ebb and flow system going but not really too sure on how to rig it up? or how much water is needed for 2-3 smallish plants... I've kinda got a idea in my head of how to implement it but not really sure how it'll work out since I don't know how much water I'll need.. You can just normal tap water right? And just leave it sitting for a few days, but what about nutrients? Without proper soil how will it get them?

If you've lasted this long I owe you a sesh I think I've remembered everything but its getting pretty late, so I've probably forgotten something.

I'll probably have 100-300NZD depending how expandable/future proof it is this is just a hobby at the moment I want to try it out to see how far I can get with around that much.
I'm supposed to be saving for a computer build as well :L

I have room for a tent but this is sort of a covert weed growing experiment. (Not my house/flat)
plus I don't want ANYONE expect people I'd trust knowing about me growing even if its just this smallish amount..

I would suggest getting a tent or converting a small closet space. You'll want about 1m width and depth. and 1.5/2m tall.
Get a digital ballast 400 or 600 watts. You can run MH or HPS bulbs in digital ballasts. If you're converting a closet, you can just paint the walls flat white. A tent will be silver on the inside.

From what I've read NZ/AUS is big on the hydro growing (a lot of aquaponics too) you should be able to find a local hydro shop to purchase nutrients and lights.

edit: if you're just trying this out as a hobby I would suggest skipping the ebb and flow for the first grow. Hydro pumps, timers, hydroton, etc... will kill your budget. start with a simple soil setup and if you find you like it go to hydro after you have a few grows under your belt.

Bugger, I might just go down and have a look in a 2nd hand shop for a small wardrobe.
Is there anyway that a smaller grow can work? - It looses most of its stealthiness if its huge..
Whats a good site to check out tents? Depending on how well I can hide it I might get one..

since your low on cash you dont even need an expensive light through the seedling stage you can just use a cfl..and your prolly going to want to spend a little bit of cash on a ph level kit and nutes for the plant good luck

you could always start them inside with cheap cfl light and when the veg stage hits just move them outside thats the cheapest way to go

I live in the center of town, so there's no where to really put a plant outside plus I don't really like the police that much..

This is going to be a lot tougher than I was expecting... Almost need my own place to do it..
