AN's Bud Candy Vs. Epsom Salt .... Is there a difference?

I am using AN's Sensi A/B Bloom with a number of other additives fed by ebb & flow in a 4x4 tent with 2 x 600W HPS lights.

Looking at the ingredients of the product "Bud Candy", all it said was in it was Magnesium Sulfate... aka... Epsom Salt. Is there anything else in this stuff, or am I paying all that cash for fucking Epsom Salt?!

What else is in Bud Candy? Would using Epsom Salt instead of Bud Candy give comparable results?

  • OK... I think AN might have changed their formula for Bud Candy. I probably have the old one. The new label has a goofy looking kid with cotton candy, and the one I have looks like a bunch of crystal covered pink berries. The only thing mine says is Magnesium Sulfate and doesn't have all the extra stuff in it.

    The newer one looks like they mixed in their product "Carbo-Load" into it, so it's a newer formula. Either way, the product doesn't seem worth the price, at least not for what it does compared to the price of Epsom Salt, and I could use some other stuff for Carbs.

    I'm thinking that the new formula was made because people figured it it was only fucking Epsom Salt in a pretty bottle. Now they mixed in some other stuff so people will buy it.

    I will admit that AN is pricey and has some dubious marketing, but their stuff has worked wonders for me. I guess it is up to me to do the research on their individual products and find cheaper alternatives if they exist.

    From what I have been able to read: Fuck using Bud Candy and use the an equivalent amount of Epsom Salt during those weeks.

    Hope this is able to save people some cash.​

im the kinda guy who wont use epson salt at all! nor do I use bud candy either!
i im having a cal/mag issue I use sensi cal A or B depending on what cycle im on.

I used all the expensive stuff and honestly I've had great results with a mix I've come up with I'm still tweaking it on different strands but I do use epson salt and unsulfered gramas molassas robust I quit buying the expensive stuff its a waste of money

Epsom Salt is cheap and is used increase the levels of Magnesium and Sulfur. The word "Salt" often discourages people from using it because people confuse it for Sodium Chloride.

If you are having Magnesium problems, I would recommend trying some Epsom Salt. It's like $2 dollars for a shit load at most drug stores.

If you are growing in soil, a cheap source of Calcium would be finely ground sea shells. They are almost pure Calcium Carbonate and they also help in lowering and stabilizing pH.

I'm slowly coming to the same conclusions. Think I'm going to invest some time in researching all the chemicals I'm using and finding alternate and cheaper ways of acquiring them.

Seems like the only benefit to using AN is the ease of measurement when adding stuff, but fuck that. I can do math. HA!

Figured why not post some pictures, right! This was taken when I first put the clones in. They Vegged for about 2 Weeks. Right now, They are in the middle of Week 2 of bloom. I'll put some recent ones up soon. They got really big, really fast.

if your not happy with any high cost nutrient you are doing it wrong, either you fucked up and didn't read the description of the nutes well enough or you fucked up and didn't read thoroughly into what you were supposed to be doing with it. get yourself a double decimal syringe and actually follow whats on the bottle CORRECTLY, an is up there for a reason.....

Calcium carbonate will raise the PH not lower it, add too much and it`ll level out somewhere around PH 9.4 ;)

epsom salts have been used by gardeners for many years...............its good for your plants and good to soak in the bath if you have aches and pains...........
