Answering Newbie questions...

i know you meant no offense and i take none. i see this, ppl who aren't computer savy come here and ask questions that some may think are stupid, did anyone ever think maybe they do not know how to search? what to ask the search? i am 45 years old, an engineer, i have used and been around technology all my life, but this forum stuff is totally new to me. this is the first one i have ever been on. if, when i came here i didn't know how to search for the things i did and KNOW what to do, i would have asked the very same questions. i think you are assuming they are asking questions because they are lazy and don't want to look for themselves, when in fact, they may not know how to.

just think about the other guy for a second and put yourself in his/her shoes. i am bold and i don't give a fuck what anyone says to me but some people will either be put off by these short, curt answers ("see the videos in my link") and not want to continue here OR will be assholes and, along with the others that pile shit on them, turn their "can you help me thread" into a free for all of us vs them. does that makes sense to you guys?

i don't mean to be all preachy and shit or be a debbie downer but let them ask their questions and help the best you can by TALKING to them. :peace:

You crtainly have a valid point and I totally agree. In most cases I, you, lime73, Grumpy, Enzo, and many others endeavor to do just that. I will usually only post the short "look at these videos" if the question has already been answered one or more times. Not a huge fan of the "Get some cal/mag" replies either. Too my knowledge I have never tried to intentionally belittle or humiliate anyone on this forum. Except 1 and he knows who he is and he has it coming to him. But even there I am trying to turn the other cheek and let it be, but we only have so many cheeks.

But anyway, tis thread was in no way directed at any one individual or meant to offend newbies and stop them from posting questions. I can see where it can be misconstrue as such though. I would ask one of my mod friends to delete it. But, it looks like it is just about dead anyway.

I'm a new with LOTS of questions, lol. I will ask the shit out of them... First of all, I have zero experience and I need to know what to do with my lights. Right now I'm vegging 4 plants (Monster, Exile, Strawberry Cough, and Pineapple Chunk) under two of the newest 357mag lights and I was wondering what I should do with them when I start my 1000w HPS. Should I use them as side lighting or put them adjacent to my HPS, angled down? Also, I think I'm having a bit of a magnesium lockout due to hard water and too much calcium. I've heard epsom salt helps? Do you have experience with this? How do I use it properly?I need help understanding when to top my plants, too. I want to top all of them twice except for the Exile, which I'm only topping once and they're all going to be supercropped and put under SCROGs. If you really know what you're doing, I would massively appreciate your help throughout my grow. This is my thread and I would greatly appreciate your assistance. https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/497708-first-grow-357-mag-led.html.
