Ants

Can you put borax in sugar water to kill ants that are eating a few plants but not harm the plant itself? Also, if so will we have issues with our plants being all organic at that point?

Have you checked to see if you have aphids? Ants usually farm aphids for the sap they suck out of plants. Curling leaves or yellowing is a sign of them.

you can use cinnamon to help control ants

I would just get those ant bait traps with borax in them, and put a couple next to the plants. Are you talking about putting borax in the water and watering the plants with it??

They usually dont eat the plant, they eat the little critters that want to eat your plant. Would be great indoor pest control if they could be contained like ladybugs.

Diamataceous Earth . Since ants have exoskeletons, DE will cut up those f'ers very fast ( DE must be dry ) .

I am at war with aphids and ants. You have to kill the Queen ant . I still have a nest somewhere. I do soil drench with spinosad where I think they are. To locate the nest I put sluggo snail bait down. Then follow them home. They seem to love it. I am gaining some ground in the battle. Purecrop 1 seemed to get the aphids population way down after I hosed them off my tomatoes and peppers. I am dealing with pavement ants. The first drench I did my whole outside veg. garden. My soil is a mix of pro mix , some choir, native soil and compost. Ants and fungus Nats love it.
