I just finished and got going and now i think the best thing to do is mount the Big Ass, Heavy Ass ballast on the ceiling. I tried a shelf with heavy duty L brackets but there is no way that i could put two ballast there. It's a 1000 hps switchable type. it has the rubber feet. If you thik you have a idea for me that doesn't involve me fucking myself then please let me know what you guys are doing in these type of areas. i.e. mounting a big electric box over a water filled table that is. thanks for reading me if you made it this far.

I have all my 1000w ballasts mounted in the ceiling (only one being digital) In this pic you can even see one only hangs by one hook lol. have had no problems at all. although I couldn't help looking up every time I walked under them for the first month or 2 lol. Best way to keep all bs out of the way too

Personally I keep my ballast outside my room and run it through the wall into my area.

I don't need any extra heat regardless where its mounted inside.

had i not already made the wireing under the plastic for the 240 i'd go outside the room now that you say that but it's a little late for this run. i have seen some electonic ballast they make that had the bracket with the holes in it already so you can just mount it to the top or you can carry it by the thing. anymore of you wonderful ideas would still be heard please. i've seen one time a guy hung it from the handle and a piece of rope. outside will be the future for sure tho. still what now.

Ceiling or top of the wall the ballast will be out of your way and the heat it produces will be away from your plants . You could even build a small enough cabinet to keep heat away but ya next run try to have them outside of your grow area. Good luck Og.

i have thought of even a cooling cabinet with air going through it. two things it could cool them and keep the noise down. even tho i must say the new equipment even if i did buy it in 07 is quiet ass can be. but the exhaust fan is on short chains that tie into two springs that are then mounted to the ceiling. it dosn't have that sound woof sound. now the second ballast is a hummer for sure i just don't need to fire it up yet. any good info on replacing hps igniters or anything to do with fixing ballast.

ok not too much been happen with this. kind of new to the active participating in internet forums. so what about running without a lid. with like a fan blowing on it as well. i mean hell if it is high or out of the room then i wouldn't see a problem with doing this, but if it is next to water then maybe not so much. anyone know anything about them and ways to tweak or even some simply shit like cool them.

I put pegboard on my wall outside my grow area. It is the shit, hooks everywhere, makeshift shelves I can move and remove, can drill into it, love it i don't search for shit because everything is on the wall.

Whatever you decide on my advice would be attach a length of stainless steel chain (around £5) to it and screw that somewhere that way if the shelf/mount fails it will hang from the chain giving you a chance to reattach before it falls on the floor or worse into water.
