For real? Omg! I believe it man.The stock market is a scam. If you make money, get it out as fast as you can. Dad was a broker and he never invested a dime of his own money

And yet his clients kept coming back because he was making THEM money, which he then took a cut of. Right? So scam or not, your dad made his money from the stock market. The stock market is a scam. Maybe not a scam, but it's rigged. If you're well connected, you will make a boat load of money. If you're like the vast majority of us it's really luck. If I want to gamble with my money I prefer Vegas. And yet his clients kept coming back because he was making THEM money, which he then took a cut of. Right? The stock market is many things, but I wouldn't say it's a scam. It definitely preys on the weak and uninformed, but it also (mostly) plays by the rules that are in place.
Actually, no, most investors are encouraged to keep their money in the market until it's gone. They're sold stocks that brokers are sure will tank. It's all a game and investors are the losers most of the timeAnd yet his clients kept coming back because he was making THEM money, which he then took a cut of. Right? Well, if it's so simple, and there's no luck involved why aren't you posting from your yacht in the Caribbean right now? You should be a billionaire by now, no?Its dumb luck if you don't do your research on the investment. Randomly picking stocks is stupid.
my first mmj industry penny stock cost 5 cents a share. Went up and I think is still currently at 16 cents. I only spent $20 on it and would of made $80 in the first week if I sold. I know they are going to go up once they start selling their mmj products.
I see, you're investing on your own, not through a brokerage. I haven't followed the market since the 90s, so that's foreign to me. SorryStow - I wasn't very clear above. When I said "rules" above, I was not referring to the SEC rules (which obviously aren't followed...). What I meant was more the "rules of the game", if you will. Rules like stock in companies that are successful (or have good hype/PR) tends to go up, and stock of companies that are unsuccessful (or have negative hype/PR) tend to go down. Manipulation, insider trading, and other shady practices have BECOME the rules of the game. If you understand this, it's possible to use it to your advantage.
I guess what makes it less of a scam in my mind is that I go into it knowing full well what I'm getting in to. If I lose money, I will not feel scammed. I will feel like I lost at a very strange game, but gained some valuable experience.
The more I come to understand the stock market as the silly game that it is, the better "player" I will become.
