i have one cure jar going at the moment that i threw a silica gel pack in there. it seems to be helping alot, as after almost 2 weeks the buds just weren't drying ( i had been burping them, rearaging, taing out buds once a day, etc).

it seems to be helping alot, but am i going to ruin my buds this way?

thanks!

did you dry before you put them in jars? they aren't intended to dry IN the jars.. the jarring is to evenly distribute the moisture throughout the bud

oh yes, hung them in the closet for about 2 weeks with a fan, checked humidty, temp etc.

i've done it right up untill now, i just want to make sure my buds are dry and ready to smoke for thanksgiving lol

i should have clarified, once i started burping in the jars, the buds started getting moister i guess as the moisture was redistributed,

i figured with the gel pack, i could give them a helping hand. i just want to make sure its not going to ruin them

i've often wondered about this - used it on one of my jars a while back and didn't notice any difference in taste, and it did dry a bit quicker than the rest...

could be a good preventative for bud rot in the jars?

just as a precaution (in case it does do something) i sellotaped a silica gel thingy to the bottom of the lid, therefore avoiding any contact with the bud itself. i figure that it can't do anything 'airbourne' because otherwise it would be a health hazard and couldn't be used on the public with electronic equipment you buy etc...

you could probably look up exactly what chemical is used in them and google it - would probably give some decent info...
