omg you have got to be kidding . Eastern Wa is repulsive. I travel the entire state with my job and Eastern Washington is so dry and so ugly. The tricities area is polluted from the Hanford Nuclear Clean up - the Columbia river polluted over there. The entire eastern area has been ravaged with fires and offers like nothing. Spokane I don't travel to but it seems pretty lame as well. One of my coworkers is from Spokane and he is SUCH a fucking asshole.
The only positive side I see in Wa is no state income tax, I cant tell you how overpopulated the Seattle area has gotten these last 3 years and with the legalization of MJ everyone is moving here. The crime has soared, drug problems are out of control. There aren't a whole lot of good jobs either.
actually now that I think about it Vancouver WA is probably the best place in WA. its by the OR border so you can go over to OR and buy all your shit with no sales tax. its pretty down there too. The people are still ass backwards there but its reasonably priced and the traffic aint so bad like it is up there. I think you should move there.

Word! LOL

I live in WA state. West of the mountains is $$ to live (all the Microsofters and Amazonians are taking over Seattle proper) but it's beautiful here. Lived here my whole life. YOu have to b able to live in mostly gray skies. We don't get any more rain than anywhere else, but the dif is that it rains, just a small drizzle constantly almost. Most other places it RAINS then it's over.
@ebgood What do you want to know about WA?

I dunno, i guess im just trying to get some differing opinions on life there. Mysisters moved up there couple years ago and they both say its the best thing they ever did. They love it but theyre alot more satasfiable than me. Whats the social scene like? Hows the food? What is there to do?

washington is beautiful.
If you plan to be in legal trouble head to oregon.
Wa has a pretty harsh court system.

If you live in the outskirts and mind your own business its amazing.

The rain is a bummer so if seasonal depression is a thing skip washington.

Ive lived on the east coast and it was pretty rough.
Here not so much.
You can drink with your wallet open on the bar and no one even kills you.

We have our bad areas but you have to be pretty determined
to live in one, or addicted

The social scene…Hmm I'm out of the barhopping scene and we've got a killer little tavern in my neighborhood, used to be a biker bar, but now still a hole in the wall with more ppl who live around here. (I live semi rural out of the suburbs near the mountains and it IS gorgeous and private) but if you can find a "place" that you become a regular at, then ppl are more accepting. I think I've mentioned this before but there's the Seattle Freeze. Meaning ppl who move here think it's hard to get to know natives. They're very friendly but sort of exclusive. But once you find your group you'll be fine.

There are liteally a TON of food places, esp. in Seattle. I don't know how they all stay in business. You can find literally EVERYTHING, even in the outlying areas. From very swanky, to funky to cheap. LOTS of yuppies and techies here. Avoid them. As long as you are away from Seattle proper you will be fine. For more rural you move east of the mt. to Eastern WA, but see our posts on that LOL, For more blue collar, head south, (Tukwila, Bremmerton has the Naval base, Tacoma, etc) or way up north (Boeing), Bellingham is a cool college town. Very Portland like.

Hmm….

To really see if you like the vibe visit here around (now b/c it's still gorgeous) the late fall and winter months. If you can handle the gray, you'll be fine. Weed is legal but recreational is $$ IMHO. Get a medical card.

This is shorter than my post and very accurate. People srsly mind their own business. I think it stems from WA being among the last settled states un the US. People moved out here to be anonymous. Oh yeah, Everyone's crazy for the Seahawks. It's more intense than other states…Maybe b/c we're west coast and have something to prove against east coast teams? IDK, I don't know how to football…just my observation on the fans.

Seattle is cool, Everett is cool, Bellevue is cool. I was up there dating a lawyer for a few months. The people complaining about traffic and it being overcrowded have never been to a real city like Los Angeles or NY. I thought it was super nice out there and Oregon as well. Even the worst traffic there was better than our everyday traffic here. Minimum wage is high to I think... If you don't have a salaried job.
