Everybody should grow on a budget and learn the Zen of growing. The only thing I can recommend should be purchased is a pH/tds meter.

i also need a PH meter, i hear so much about it and how important it is for nutrient uptake. my ph has always been a mystery to me. and i dont even want to mess around with the liquid color shit like pools.

and yes everyone should learn the zen of growing. it really is theraputic. im sure that it would be an amazing program for AA rather than giving yourself up to god, give yourself up to an indoor garden and spend your time with that.

I was thinking that if you mix the light colors, it's just like mix food coloring, & yellow and blue make green but mix white and any color and get a lighter color. Ture or Fulse ????

hmmm thats a good question really. i dont think iam qualified to answer that, nor do i have the energy to begin researching it.

18000 lumens from cfls? How many lamps is that at what output each...are they blue light spectrum?
I was putting my tomatoes outside in the day and at about 4 when the sun is losing its intensity bring them in under 5 20w cfls. Went out and bought a lamp for £25 its 64000k(white/blue spec) 125w cfl 8000 lumens and have that with two normal 'soft white' 20w 1250 lumen bulbs for a bit of red spec - my stems, leaves and growth is all very good....so far *touch wood

I am afraid not, light waves cannot mix, they will travel alongside each other. When people refer to mixing the light spectrum they mean having blue and red running along side each other which is beneficial; Mostly blue light spectrum is needed in veg with a little red, then in flower change to mostly red. Dont worry if you cant do this just blue or just red at the right time will be good.

If you are going to use cfls I would recomend buying a good bulb. (they arent all expensive) my set up cost my £250 inc light, seeds and soil etc

UK farmers visit http://www.ecotechnics.co.uk/ or http://www.basementlighting.com/envirolites_and_ecolites.htm
And our yankee pals just slap 'cfl grow lamps' into google see what comes up, but make sure you know what light spectrum you are using

Also maybe worth your time LEDs http://www.ctledlight.co.uk/120w-led-grow-light I dont care what anyone says, i have seen an awesome grow op with these lights, the fruits were awesome! It also give you info on light spectrums on some of the page.......

You can never do too much research, if you're ever bored look into stuff, increase your knowledge!

I am not in affiliated with those websites and you dont have to use them....just a nudge in a good direction

The plant got stolen that shit sucks
no. sunlight would only hurt your plants if it is too strong, wich in a window shouldnt happen at all. and as far as the work light, if its not a cfl or doesnt have the right spectrum its probly not really efficient. (puts out heat energy rather than lumens the plants want)

and gayan whats the post about?

thanks mang...

i just wanted to give an update on the buds...they came out rather light and fluffy but crystally as hell... one kind was an alright smoke and a decent high.

but the second more sativa looking variety gets me stoned off my ass. it has a very fruity smell and great taste. the only down side was it turned out to be a hermie like a mofo. i did chop it a little early but i think thats why i get more of a heady energetic high.

keep growing my fellow rastas

Just wanted to stop in & say that I am using natural light from a window well that gets eastern exposure all day along with my current 342 watts of cfl. Stop by & check it out. Good thread. + rep.

I didn't read all the posts here, but just as an FYI....When I bought the house I am in, it was old and had old windows made back in the 1920's...and there was a room that was used as a kind of solarium because it has a good SW exposure. All my houseplants loved that room ...until we replaced the old windows with new ones that had a UV filtering aspect to them. After that, even though there was a lot of light coming in...it was absent a lot of the UV....as a result, the plants don't dig it, anymore. They grow, but they don't bloom well...Weird. So, if anyone thinks that plants don't really love UV, then think again...They seem to crave it!

So, just out of curiosity, @bud nugbong ...Are your windows new or old?

Anyway...back to the discussion!

My house was built in 1951 and I have the old windows in an extra bedroom that faces southwest and that allows me to grow in that window year round. It's nice to not have to worry about temps and bugs and shit since they're inside.
