Clearly you are missing the point of air stones. If they did nothing, they would not be used in aquariums now would they? Yes the bubbles rise to the surface, but it is what you don't see that makes a difference. They add oxyegn to the water regardless if you want to believe it or not. I use one and I am far from a noob. Try feeding your plants stagnant water and see what it does to them. If you keep a large quantity of water on hand for several days, you will want to oxygenate it.
GOD BLESS YOU!!! why is it so dang hard to get these people to understand things??... the worst is CLEARY WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ... they don't ....yet they still want to defend the point of oxygen being pointless.... i mean all those things just show me how long someone really has been growing..

were here to help not hurt.. if you don't know for sure what your talking about sit back listen and learn... am i right?

Clearly you are missing the OP ..I agree air is needed in volume for a dwc but as for water into soil there is little need to agitate or infuse water to pour onto soil ...
as in most cases there is already air in the soil.... so do some study you are in definite need

Study? You should realize who you are talking to. You could say that over the last 20 years of growing, I may have studied, just a little. I may have even done some experiments to help me see the things I am doing are not a waste of time. I have proven to myself that there is a difference between stagnant water and oxygenated water through my own experiments. If you would like to educate yourself, be my guest and here is how (and also the test I performed myself and not something I read on a website). Get two reservoirs 35 gallons each and let one sit for 2 weeks with no air and let the air stone run in the other one. I guarantee you will return to this thread with an apology and a statement of how wrong you are. Not only will there visible difference between the two tanks, but the plants will be much more vigorous with the oxy water than the stagnant water.
