They only have added chemicals if you buy the non organic kind..natural american spirit and winston are just 2 brands that have 0 additives and are just pure tobacco

Hi --

I grow my own tobacco at home every year and I put no pesticides on the plants and I put no additives like the witch's brew they put on all commercial cigarettes. Also, my home-grown tobacco has stronger nicotine so I smoke less, reducing the cancer hazards AND I do not use the high temperatures used in all commercial cigs to cure it that causes even more carcinogens to form.

Is smoking cigs dangerous? Sure, but then nicotine calms a person and reduces your hunger. Which is worse? Anti-anxiety drugs and diet pills or smoking?

Will smoking reduce your lifespan? Maybe a little, but then that is at the end of your life and the lowest quality of life you can expect. I enjoy smoking and my quality of life is fine.

It is just a little hypocritical of someone who smokes pot to point at cigs and demonize them. Sounds to me like the government propaganda has worked on those people.

Is it hard to grow, cure and process tobacco? No! If you can grow tomatoes, you can grow tobacco. Curing can be as easy as boxing it up and waiting for a year, or as difficult as building an insulated box with temp/humidity controls and waiting a month.

Does it take a huge amount of land to grow? No again! In a 30x30 foot area, you can grow enough for a 1 pack a day habit. I know plenty of people who grow tobacco in containers at the suburban houses and have enough for more than a year.

I'll subscribe to this forum and answer anyone's questions who wants to grow tobacco at home and avoid paying the government to attack you for smoking $1000's a year.

Awesome bro; Thank you for your consideration to consumers, and encouraging them to grow their own tobacco. I'm sick of paying 6$ for a pack of cigarettes, damn sin tax.

Where can I buy tobacco plant seeds?

Hi man,

I sell tobacco seeds for much less than you can get them online. If you will e-mail me at GYOtobacco@yahoo.com I'll be glad to send you a current catalog and I always send with each order the address of a website with complete growing instructions. I'm also on that site every day to answer questions along with literally 100's of other members eager to help new tobacco growers.

We need to get together and fight this punishment by government and until they outlaw homegrown tobacco, it's the only way to go!

If you have any more questions, I will continue watching this forum. I'm serious about removing as many of our taxes from this assault on tobacco as possible.

ps. wait until I can post URL's here and I'll show you my national Fox News interview on home growing tobacco that aired last Sunday night......bk

My grandpa told me that his dad grew his own tobacco after WWII. Apparently the smoke was yellow. If you want cheap tobacco just roll your own.

Z4qqqbs,

Look at my posts before. I now have 4 kinds of tobacco seeds for sale and am getting a few other varieties soon. Send me an e-mail for a catalog.

I will also personally help you start and grow your first crop. I've become a militant pro-tobacco guy! It's never too late to start smoking again! Where's the ashtrays in new cars? Boycott automakers who refuse to put them in!

It's late Fall now and if you are gong to get a crop of tobacco in next year, it's time to break up the beds, plow and till them over to start controlling weeds. It's also time to decide what types of tobacco you want to grow. I'll describe how to start the seeds indoors 6-7 weeks before your last average frost in some posts soon.

Hi --

Tobacco is subject to many pests. Generally, the tiny bugs you see on the underside of the leaf are aphids. They make their own "dew" which is very sticky. Ants like the dew, so you will frequently see ants travelling up and down the plants.

On the off chance that you were container growing tobacco indoors, it is possible you were keeping the soil too moist and you were seeing fungus gnats. There is an organic control for fungus gnats called Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis which is contained in a product called Mosquito Dunks. These look like toroids, flat donut-shaped, and are available at Lowes and Home Depot. Always try to buy them fresh as they do have a short shelf life. You can smash them up, soak in water, strain and spray on the soil to control fungus gnats.

Incidently, this should be great news to anyone growing pot indoors too. Repeat the spray after 1 week and as needed.

nicknugg, next time just hang the green tobacco leaves separated so air can flow between them someone in the shade and dry until they aren't green any more, then hang them somewhere really hot until they are totally crisp. After that, you can smoke them directly or age them in a box with exposure to the air for a year for better smoke.
