anyone ever re use the rockwool?

i dont know if its possible, it seems kinda dirty but i have some trees that went hermie and the roots are are probably not deep into the rockwool.

i have a 3 inch cube on top of a hugo 6inch cube. would it be a bad idea to re use the rockwool?


i ran out of blocks and i wanted to throw some other sh*t into 1212 but i dont have the 200 bucks to buy a box of rockwools right now.

200? i payed $8 for 8 4in cubes...but no i would not reuse the rockwool....i think there would be to much root to take out

i try to buy them by the box. the 6inch hugos come 48 to a box.

do you do 12/12 in the 4 inches too?


i was thinkin about rinsing them real well but i'm probably just gonna wait

My concern is that there would be nutrient residue at a level too high for new plants.

I have my 4 in cubes sitting in hydroton with each plant to a pot...not sure the size of my pot

lol, I am a re-user of rockwool! Every time I pull a godammed male trying to grow those "special" non femmed seeds I just repot that shit into the next pot. I use it also all oer the place, and have I have cut cubes lying about. Lol.

pretty much to sex I use a 4 inch cube and let her veg a month and usually I get preflowers by then. Then I stack it on the 6 inchers.

This is as far as I ahve got in my rockwool pyramids. They work great but I am moving to dwc as I want some trees as I am legal and prefer a 4 in veg and 4 in flower formula for my ladies.

Once it gets too dried out tho it is worthless. You will notice that flat overly hard look that wont "wash out". Let that go.

i like the rockwool mini cubes i reuse those sometimes.

hey fireman i use both 4x4 & 6x6 but by the time i go 12/12 i put 3'' mat under blocks works killer i flood once a week or 10 days depending on moisture content i might try the new 8x8 blocks designed to grow whole plant start-2-finish but hard to argue with success im having with current method i see no harm in re-using blocks if nute level isnt high & no roots grew into them rotting roots could really cause problems

ya i seen those 8x8s, i was thinkin about gettin some for the moms

i like to call them donator plants instead of mothers. Mother fuckers. Lol. I have this donator in dwc and these others in rockwool blocks and I let this donator just sit there for 3 months or so in dwc and I could not have done that in rockwool. Also I could cut the roots if it got bigger than my place. I know I could just remake the donator out of clones but then I would not get to flower a 3x3 tree in dwc either. I am switching over to dwc for all my plants really tho cuz this is so fun.

I kniw this was a rockwool thread but I am so happy no more rockwool in a way. A mess is a mess. If I needed a medium then it will always be rockwool. Pyramids do work.
