Anyone ever use Homemade nutrients?

there's a few dyi recipes for nutrients using organic food scraps that would normally go into a compost pile. Or using worms castings to make compost tea. Has anyone ever used these methods? If so how can you tell or test what npk levels are?

Veg- EWC, thrive alive b1(kelp), just a shot of mollases and some blood meal alfalfa meal. Barley for heat stress

Bloom- EWC, mollases High P bat gauno. Kelp (thrive alive) sometimes some other shit.

I found that if your inoculating with Mhycorhizzen find a substitute for the mollases. I use dehydrated cane sugar. I heard pouring mollases on your myco fungi is like dumping tar on it and slows things down. Not good.

There's also a shit ton of great organic tea recipes in the thread AACT something or other.

Is ewc a brand? I just googled it and some other type shit came up.
I want to try a completely homemade nutrient mix but don't know where to start. There're so many options on what cannabis needs I don't want to make some "tea" and it stunt or kill my girls.

you can use lactobacillus serum on seedling and molasses like 1 teaspoon per g its a good ph buffer and micro nutrients to help seedling out

my current grow:

Blue Mystic

soil stats : 1/3 perlite / vermiculite / spagnum peatmoss shrimp comport (sterilized at 200C for 30 min mixed with nirvana root xtender(microbial life))

water additives: i've also added 1/2 teaspoon molasses and 1/2 table spoon of lactobacillus serum

germinated seedlings in cup of water for 18h then placed in medium seeds popped 48h latter

Of course and I fucked many a decent crop doing so as well! As for the NPK/PPM's Its fairly simple in my experience... you just switch to hydro, get a crop off and then buying the best tools, systems and nutes that canna etc offer becomes far less painful! Soil, organics and worm castings... man its 2015 ffs! You be riding a fucking penny farthing too :bigjoint:

in order to grow the healthiest plants possible you must honor the basics. too often do people look for the flashy techniques, tips and tactis, when rather if they just followed and mastered the basics of cannabis cultivation their bud QUALITY and YIELD would increase naturally!

Good stuff, sounds like wise words but for indoors hydroponic growing is much easier than soil imo. Its cleaner, more control, less substrate, higher yields, smaller plants, quick amendments, cheaper outlay versus yield from a crop ime and bear in mind coco, drippers and a cheap pump is very cheap to set up in 10 or 15 litre pots. You don't need any fancy tools either just a good ph n a decent ec/ppm meter.

I shoulda mentioned that I use a dwc system indoors. I do grow other veggies and fruits on the property. I compost all useable scraps to use on them. That takes forever to be useable. I Guess what I want to know is if there's any experience in somehow liquifying compost? Into useable dwc nutes?

Nah its often I see others using a compost tea of worm humus n other stuff for 'allegedly' keeping roots healthy but I think its mixing things up too much. Stick with proper nutes like Canna Aqua and just keep it cool as possible and use DM Zone. Or at the worst try a mixture of worm casts, molasses etc it on a single plant?

Good luck m8 but DWC is the best system going imo, so don't risk problems trying organic magic potions :bigjoint:

DIY Compost teas are kindof hard to master. However, Teas are not considered a fertilizer. They are a charged substance with microbacteria and other beneficials with food for them. They go to work breaking down the fertilizers you put in your soil. For a full explanation find the Compost Tea Task Force report. In creating your own fertilizers, you break down vegetable matter, composted fecal waste matter, leaves, ashes, smashing up dolomitic limestone, Using acid and fulvics to leach silicates and potassium out of K-feldspar and quartz... hehe

The stuff I would recommend you try would be vermiculture - cultivating worms to create worm castings. These castings are perfectly balanced for plant life, and are a natural time release fertilizer. You cannot burn your plants with it, and it creates bacteria that out compete other bacteria. This crushes Rhyzoctonia, Fusarium, Damping Off, Bacterial Wilt, among many other things.

Try composting cotton burrs as well. Create your own charged soils using worm castings and other composted materials.

As for hydroponics, I would stay away from home made organic fertilizers. ;)

LOL ok....

Im hydro now but i only switched to decrease the time between yields. Aint no problems growing organic in soil. In fact better buds, way less maintenance as far as nutrients go. Everything has a trade off.

No,nitrate salts produce better buds. They also require way less maintenance and cost way less than organics.

To make homemade hydro nutes, you need:

Calcium Nitrate
Potassium Nitrate
Monopotassium phosphate
Magnesium Sulfate
Iron DTPA
Zinc EDTA
Sodium Borate
Manganese sulfate
Sodium Molybdate

From my research I found that making compost tea is how to do it. I already have a compost pile. So I used some and mixed in the MMJ clippings. When it's broken down I'll steep it in water for a week and strain through a chinoi. I'd have to strain it a few times to make sure the hoses and pumps don't clog up.
The N in from compost should be plenty since it's mostly leaves and green kitchen scraps, I use it on my vegetables.
For the P I'll get bone meal or blood meal. I'm not grinding up bones...
And the K I'm saving all the lemon and orange rinds I can find. Bananas and peels are also used to extract potassium..

If you really want to keep using DWC, use nitrate salts... otherwise you should really consider going back to dirt.

Being this exact is even beyond my abilities. Wouldn't you have to weigh micromoles and such? I like to have more leeway. However I can see those who know how to use these being able to really tighten their margins and increase yields as they see fit. I am using organics chelated by Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria.
