If I didn't already have 3 years worth of seeds, I might think about ordering more. lol

I probably have closer to 10 years worth of seeds at the rate I grow. I waited too long to do the math. I'm finding that they become hit or miss after 4 or 5 years in the fridge. It becomes a pain with older seeds because I have to over-germinate knowing some won't pop and others might be weak and need to be culled. If I didn't already have 3 years worth of seeds, I might think about ordering more. lol
At this point I'm over-stocked on Mephisto and Dutch Passion, I think the only additional seeds I'd buy (if I stay on top of the drops and make it) would be RocBud. I just have to acknowledge that each seed I buy now means there is one more that will die in the fridge before ever being sprouted... and there are already quite a few on that path. Live and learn.Don't let that stop you... It doesn't stop me. Lol
I love NASC, although their great service and seed collection is part of the reason I have way too many! lolThey just came in this week from North Atlantic seed co.
I did the math... I have over 80 strains and over 800 seeds. I have 6 going now... At 4 grows a year... 6 plants per grow... I have enough seeds to probably grow for about 45 years. And that's not counting the photo seeds. LolI probably have closer to 10 years worth of seeds at the rate I grow. I waited too long to do the math. I guess I'll have to start growing more plants each run.. lol. Actually if I find some favorites I will probably just stick to growing them.I did the math... I have seeds from over ten years ago that sprouted the same rate as the new onesI probably have closer to 10 years worth of seeds at the rate I grow. I waited too long to do the math. Just my experience, but I'm sure there are other variables beyond age impacting my outcomes. When I sprout fresh seeds that were purchased directly from the breeder, I tend to have 90-100% germination. It goes down (slightly) as soon as those criteria change. I haven't kept actual records, it's just my observations of trends in my grows. That's good to know that you've had such success with older seeds, I hope mine keep popping that long.I have seeds from over ten years ago that sprouted the same rate as the new ones
Everytime I get a silica packet I throw it into the box with seeds. That's kept in the butter containers in the fridge. (Temp more regulated inside there.) I've never had a problem with old seeds.Just my experience, but I'm sure there are other variables beyond age impacting my outcomes. I actually purchased silica packets and I keep them in with the seed packets, and the whole collection is in a drawer. I never put the crystals in the vile, I have read that seeds can get too dry as well as too moist in storage, so I've tried not to go too far in either direction. But it's working for you, so that's good to know.Everytime I get a silica packet I throw it into the box with seeds. That's kept in the butter containers in the fridge. I'll even break open the packets and put the little crystals inside the vile with the seeds. Then cotton to keep them from bouncing around.
Haha I know. I still get the emails and sometimes find myself with seeds in my basket and then I just x out. It's all about self control. Lmao. It's like 'seed edging'. You don't get the money shot but the climax is there.... Hahaha. Seriously though I have a serious problemEven though I already have too many seeds, I haven't been able to get myself to unsubscribe from Meph's drop announcements... and for a long time I've wished I had Fugue State. I set a reminder on my phone for 30 minutes before the drop to make sure I didn't miss it, but of course in those 30 minutes I totally spaced. About 20 minutes after the drop started I remembered so I gave it a shot, and ended out effortlessly picking up a pack.
Mephisto's website has come a LONG way from a few years ago. Before the site would have crashed, and right around the time it stopped crashing it would have sold out. They are significantly more expensive now, but I suppose everything is. Maybe that's why 20 minutes in they still had stock? I seriously need to unsubscribe now...
