Im one of those people who loves to grow, but cant due to my roommate situation. I smoke about 1/4 every month, and im getting tired of paying for it. I've been doing a lot of research on these PC grow boxes, and im convinced the idea will work, but want to know your guys' opinions first. All i want is maybe 1/4 a month. I was looking at some PC Grow boxes going for up to $800 (which is ridiculous) but then i found a website selling 24" grow boxes with a mesh shelf for only $299, and an 18" for $179 on www.pcgrowcase.com . Anyone heard of these guys? I would build my own but i dont have enough time, and im too just lazy. Any info would be helpful THANKS!!

I just built my own, but if you are gonna get one, get it as big as u can. What type of lighting do they have, Im using 70watt hps on 12/12 only, and grow in soil (as there really isnt enough room for hydro). seems to work very well, the only problems Ive noticed are user errors as i am on my first grow but I think they are a great idea if you can keep smell under control, which I am having a bit of a problem with, so I just use matches, candles, incense, and those little twist up air fresheners that u get for 96 cents at wallyworld. Does this have any carbon filters, cuz i only got one good one and then that universal carbon filter taped to the outide of my fans which do very little but works for the inconspicuous aspect which is VERY important in my situation. anyway IMO they are nice but only if you can keep the smell under control. I would still recomend building it yourself if you can though.

It looks like they have 4 26w cfl bulbs. Do you use just one case or two? These guys have one for the vegetative growth and one for the flowering so you can keep the plants coming, which sounds like a great idea. They also recommend growing with a dwarf strain such as lowryder...have you tried this? I was going to build my own because all i could find was pc grow boxes going for $400+, but i think this is a good deal. Also, i agree with you when it comes to hydro in a pc grow box...it takes up way too much room from what i can tell, and i think it would be a pain in the butt to maintain.

Those pc planters are cool and innovative but not too practical. You can probably get away with some auto flowering low ryders in there but otherwise your grow space is Ta Ta Ta Ta TINY

Yeah it is a pretty small space, but im willing to bet you can still grow enough for personal use in one....they say their mesh shelf can be put over the plants so that they do not grow as tall...

one thing I would like to point out is that a couple of you guys mentioned using lowryder in the pc, but from what Ive read lowryder was bread to be a short plant so that it could be easily concealed or just be small under normal growing conditions, so when you grow it 12/12 from start to finish its kinda overkill and doesnt have good results. but iether way, its gonna b kind of a volitile envireonment being as small as it is, so i would recomend using bagseed with it till u get it down, which is what i am doing at the moment.

I think I've spent about $40 on my pc when i built it. Lowrydr #2 works really good in small computer cases. but you can grow other strains in a regular case. You just have to LST and really work on them. But its possible to pull 2 oz+ out of a case per grow if you do it right.

Yeah this is going to be a fun experiment im going to try a lot of different techniques. Im going to start a batch from bag seed until my lowryders get here.

Im surprised i got my pc grow box today and how fast i got it..i guess it is shipped from a state near me...anyways I am very pleased with the clean setup. I took some pictures so everyone can see. Im germinating some seeds for a closet grow it those shot glass sized pots, and i think im going to keep a couple in there just for shiiits and giggles to see what happens.

Overall im very pleased with it...saved me a lot of hassle and i got it on the cheap.

You can bring the shelf as close to the light as you want and the fans do a good job of sucking the hot air out and blowing fresh air in so it doesnt get hot.

could you grown the plant in the case from start to finish? if you had a plant like lowryder, or what do u seed suggest? does it take care of the smell ? is it very loud?

Before you spend a dime - see if YOU can build it yourself!!!

There are so many great DIY ideas floating around on here and other sites. You could probably build something for under $50 bucks. go to Google and type in: DIY Growbox, and see what you get.

Dude you can easily grow pot in a 24" case....i've spent a shit load of time looking into it, and lowryder is MEANT for a pc grow. Just make sure you get 6700k bulbs for the first week or two so your plants wont stretch...make sure you have 2700k for flowering...keep the light close to the plants as possible. Im using bagseed right now and they're doing good. This is day 3...

Still waiting on lowryder and thinking about getting another case to put somewhere, so i can have another batch growing.

I just use pot for myself and a friend or two, so this setup is going to be perfect. I really want to grow lowryder autoflowering dwarfs...cant wait.

PS- I used the 2700k bulbs for the first 1.5 days and they stretched....so make sure you use 6700k...i was mainly just curious to see for myself what would happen.

Sorry didn't see this...read my other post to answer your first question......

Its not loud, it sounds like a computer is running with just the fans and no harddrive noises...smell wont be an issue until they are into flowering....the only place the smell will come out is where the exhaust fan is, and im going to put a filter there, possibly a carbon filter you can get at a hardware store. Im not too worried about it as i dont htink its going to smell too bad, and the smell is localized through the fan.

nice grats man, i designed my own computer case and now im on day 3 too... :D
i r so stoked, got some clones from the clubs in sanfran, and have some bag seed all growing in there, also threw in some bag seed
i r lucky cause its legal in cali so i dont have to worry bout them getting too big, my computer grow box is more of a starter box, as soon as the get monsterous for my tiny case, then its time to go to the great outdoors and start again!
