[h=1]Police: All Empire State shooting victims were wounded by officers[/h]By David Ariosto, CNN
updated 9:54 PM EDT, Sat August 25, 2012

New York (CNN) -- On a busy Friday morning in Manhattan, nine pedestrians suffered bullet or fragment wounds after police unleashed a hail of gunfire at a man wielding a .45 caliber pistol who had just killed a former co-worker.
The officers unloaded 16 rounds in the shadow of the Empire State Building at a disgruntled former apparel designer, killing him after he engaged in a gunbattle with police, authorities said.
Three passersby sustained direct gunshot wounds, while the remaining six were hit by fragments, according to New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. All injuries were caused by police, he said Saturday.

So what?

Is this some sort of argument why citizens should not have guns? Because the logic is not there...

how the hell did you arrive at that retarded conclusion?

did you even read the title of the thread and the first line of the OP?

i think this is an argument for "more people would have been injured if everyone was armed".

maybe you should focus more on mowing lawns, and less on misinterpreting arguments.

Not to mention all the gun enthusiasts say " I have training" ..yeah..so did the police..like lots of free ammo and target practice and simulated target practice and they panicked and fucked up..if a dozen cowboys had loaded weapons in the theater ..4-5 times more death/injury.

I think you are under estimating the body count a dozen cowboys in a darkened theatre shooting guns off would be

The hypothesis was more people carrying guns would cause more injuries.

The implication is that less people carrying guns would cause less injuries.

And the logic for that jump is not there.

i think with cops shooting a suspect the fact is it's not one single cop doing the shooting, and they don't fire single rounds to simply stop a suspect, but are pretty much known to keep shooting till they run out of rounds..

i think that is why so many innocent people get shot during a police lead shooting.. also, they were all probably standing around him at different angles, all shooting till the empty their clips at a suspect at all different angles, some shots missing the target and killing bystanders..

imo, if someone in that theatre would have had a gun, they'd probably only shoot the douche enough times to simply get him to the ground.. i can't see one of them emptying their clips into a person the way cops do.. plus, it wouldn't be 10 armed people all trying to fill the guy with lead the way i've seen cops take down an armed suspect..

just my $.02 though..

you're talking about your mentally handicapped GOP logic while chesus is sticking empirical evidence of men trained on how to use guns right in your face.

yawn. your conclusion was still retarded.

So we should take guns away from cops then? What would have prevented this?
i don't think his point was to take guns away from cops, i think his point was that whoever made the point about the colorado shooting being prevented by a citizenry armed out the ass was retarded logic.

not all cops are "highly trained" with there weapons. alot of them know enough but they aren't highly skilled marksmen or anything like that.

Actually, the shooter immediately surrendered when faced with force. The whole basis of his plan was to create a diversion (which failed) by having his apt blow up. The minute someone faced him with a gun he quit fighting.

Now, one of the biggest deterrents to people doing shit like the shooting in the movie theater is if they think there is going to be armed resistance. This is the same for home invasions, carjacking, etc.

The shooter picked a place where he knew guns were prohibited.

If someone in that theatre had a gun and pointed it and/or fired it in the direction of the shooter it might have made him run. It certainly would have stopped him from calmly slaughtering people.

Look, if you want to be a sheep, giving up your right to self protection and placing it in the hands of someone else, so be it. That is your personal choice and I am not going to interfere with that. What I continue to ask is that you stop trying to abridge my rights and prevent me from protecting myself as I choose to.

BTW, 19 people got shot in Chicago the other day. Where were all the cops to prevent it?

My solution? nobody can have automatics or assault rifles ...own a gun? sure..in your home...not out in public...you want less crime? stop locking up people for weed and overloading the court docket will silly shit... when you rob someone at gunpoint and get arrested/convicted ..and you get less time then most people growing a harmless plant..that is a huge fucking problem.
