Buddy of mines dad was in the 101st in WWII, he jumped at Normandy. Was lucky to get back alive. He used to go to all the reunions. He was a small guy. About 5'4" My buddy still has his hand to hand combat book.
I had a buddy that was in 101st in Vietnam. He just passed 8 years ago.
Jimi Hendrix was also 101st at Fort Campbell. One time he got caught listening to the Drum Corp, when he was supposed to be on guard duty, and got caught 3 times being not in bed during bed check.
The last straw was on his 26th jump, he hurt his back, and ankle, and got an honorable discharge.
Another buddies dad was on the Indianapolis, and survived. He was in the engine room, and went out the escape hatch.
