Anyone use nanolux DE 1215w

Oh yeah, and I've been messing around with these more blue bulbs in some of my veg rooms.
60% power at about 3 feet away is about as bright as a 600w single ended w/halide bulb at about 24" away. I figure any new lamp I buy is going to be a DE :-)

Hypothetically, would 6 of these replace 8 kw's?
Yes, for sure. Especially if you are use to shinning a 1000w single ended over a 4'x4' area like I have for many years.
Nowadays with the DE's I rock, i'm either shinning 2 of them over 4'x12', or in some of my setups, 3 of them over 4'x16'(2-4x8 trays).

Are any of your set ups 9 foot ceilings?

I have quite a few of them going in only 8' high ceilings. Absolutely possible, but it is a challenge for when growing trees. So for the most part, it's trays about 6-8" off the ground, and lots of smaller plants run to waste. More hydro
These are some very recent pics of a couple of those different 8' high ceilings with DE's grows i speak of

But I still like my bigger 10' high ceiling bloom rooms better:-D

Looks awesome!!!..

The DE spacing will be determined by how wide [or deep] the reflector is. As for Nanolux / Gavita / E-Pap they are very comparable. With a beam angle of 134°/ 40°/ 150°
respectively....

The Nanolux is slightly the deepest. E-pap the broadest. That will affect spacing and installation by a few inches. The deeper the reflector [narrowest beam angle] the higher it can be placed.

The open phantom reflector that I use most of, is perfect for 4x6. The enclosed phantom, and other gavita style reflectors are good for more of a square footprint.

I'm guessing I should just use the Nano bulb because I'm still not sure if other brand bulbs can handle 1215w with out breaking, I'd like to try ushio or Phillips, I hear good things about those
In the original, Dimlux Extreme, the original DE bulb, the Philips GreenPower 1000W 400V EL DE goes up to 1200watt but that may just be rounded.

http://opticlimateshop.com/en/dimlux-xtreme-evsa/139-dimlux-expert-series-el-uhf-1000w-400v.html

I don't know how original DE bulbs operates in knock off fixtures or how knock off bulbs operate in original fixtures as I don't do knock offs.

Seriously, I don't know if nanolux is actually a dimlux knockoff. Dimlux comes with nano tube tech and they look very familiar. Dimlux is from the creators of opticlimate, a popular water fueled airco for sealed rooms. In NL Dimlux is the new Gavita. What epapillon tried to be after gavita stopped catering cannabis growers in NL. It's quite possible they licensed or used the same technology.

Does Nanolux actually create their own bulb?

I can't say it with certainty but I think you'll be fine (read: better off) with a phillips DE. You could send phillips and/of nanolux an email but I don't think that 15w extra will cause problems with the original (philips) de bulbs.

bulb
bəlb/
noun

1. A rounded underground storage organ present in some plants, notably those of the lily family, consisting of a short stem surrounded by fleshy scale leaves or leaf bases and lying dormant over winter.
2. an object with a rounded or teardrop shape like a bulb, in particular.

:)

Yes Nanolux manufactures their own ..... LAMPS.

The technology was pioneered by Philips [whom I use to work for], however Nanolux is a FACTORY brand. Hardly a knock-off. They make several name brands.

Gavita / Solistek / Phantom those are private label brands.... or rebrands.... one of them is actually public brand.

The open phantom reflector that I use most of, is perfect for 4x6. The enclosed phantom, and other gavita style reflectors are good for more of a square footprint.

For better understanding of DE spacing check this out:

I install these fixtures 4' apart, 6' on center because they are more of a rectangular footprint.

Where as the gavita type of enclosed fixtures, including the phantom enclosed, is more of a square footprint. We hang them in a 5' grid pattern.
Alls I was saying;-)

That's exactly right!
The E-pap style reflector is °16 wider than the Gavita or Nanolux therefore will be spaced a little farther apart.
The Nanolux can be hung a little higher.

DE Technology is righteous! I wish they made a 2,000w lamp. :)

Good luck with your garden.

Funny, because in dutch it is called a "lamp" and I always refer to them as lamp, except for international fora. I.e. you're barking up the wrong tree and I know how cliche the lamp vs bulb insider lingo joke is. Fyi, in addition to what you found in the dictionary a bulb refers also to the glass housing of lamps, and because of the common incandescent bulbs is used interchangeably. Your ex-employer selling led bulbs must be mindblowing for you.

So you felt the need to stick up for Nanolux so defensively, worked for philips, but you still refer to nanolux as "they"?

The "seriously" prefix meant the rest wasn't sl serious. You're taking the knock off thing too literal like bulb. Samsung brands their phones in factories too but they are still iphone knock offs. Knock offs includes copies and imitations, not just complete and exact copies. Often made by ex employees who start their own spin offs lol

Anyway, I just noticed they use a similar design and like I said maybe they licensed the same tech. Nothing wrong with that. Turns out to be philips, no surprise there. Although, are you referring to the nano tube tech specically or the DE tech?

In Spain we call it: Lámpara
Dutch will be similar to German with 'Lampe'. I erroneously just always say licht.

Yep
When I worked for Philips. I was laughed at for calling them bulbs.
When I worked for Hydrofarm I was laughed at for calling them bulbs.
If I say the world 'bulb' at any of the 8 international trade show I attend, they won't laugh at me publicly.
They will privately though.

I say "they" because, the term 'bulb' is still everybody's literature [including Nanolux] but not mine. :)

When referring to the outer envelope shape of the lamp jacket [BT housing] -- referred to as bulb shape.

"The lamp has a bulbous shape."

Though the DE is really more cylindrical right? Stupid Semantics. :)

Yes referring to Philips for developing and pushing the HID tech to new limits. We can thank them for much.

As for the Dimlux/Nanolux confusion, the Nanolux circuit started in 2006 (even before Lumatek) but it was used in the commercial lighting industry and NOT introduced into the Hydroponic Market until FALL 2011. During that period it has gone through several revisions [modifications] to adapt it for the indoor cultivation market.

The products are really even the same:
One has a wireless cloud control system [Nanolux] while the Dimlux is like the Gavita EL1/EL2.
Not wireless but rather hardwired. That's the biggest difference in terms of features.

Dimlux's has some really cool Air-Cool-abilty features. That is their Forté.

Their 'Opticlimate Pro 2 Series; is pretty sick. I totally remember the Dimlux's Debut, in Vienna then saw them again in Prague a few years back.
Got a chance to even speak with their engineers.

Cheers.

Very good information everyone, much appreciate it! I never realized there were so many details about the lamps (I call them bulbs but if that's not correct I'll start saying lamps lol). Technology has changed so much in the past 10 years, very interesting stuff

So in everyones opinion will the nanolux be comparable to the Gavita and other brands? I want the most bang for the buck really.

Here's the nanolux I bought, should have it delivered tomorrow it has a redesigned hood, is anyone familiar with the new style hood?

Thank you for this wealth of info Aeroknow I have been reading your replys to threads trying to learn more about your process because I can't view your profile as I am too new. I do appreciate you sharing your knowledge very much

I was wondering why you run soil and not "hydro" I know it is a wel debated topic but I was wondering what your perspective was thank you again for your time

I got away from only blowing up hydro setups because of plant counts. As my setups have gotten larger and larger over the years, my hair has been getting greyer and greyer. For me, there's a little relief thinking that if something goes down I won't be as fucked with fewer plants.

With that said, i really am more of a hydro head. Although I grow some pretty big plants indoor in pots of dirt, coco, and soil, i've been slowly converting my setups back to hydro:-D

One thing about me: I get tired real easy doing the same thing over and over. What fun is that? I switch shit up constantly:-)

Quick update on the outcome of the Nanolux DE. Dry weight is 2 pounds 115 grams. Fire og cut. 6 plants in 10 gallon pots 4x6 foot print. 32 day veg under shitty T-5's and topped twice. Never went over the 1000 watt setting on the DE lamp. This is my first time getting 2 ponds a light, I'm simply blown away.

That's awesome! I was really wanting to go with nanolux because of the cloud system but went with gavita because resale value is better. Now I'm almost regretting it because the cloud system is coming out with a remote nutrient monitoring and feeding system plus an app where you can control and monitor everything from your cell. The rep was telling me next year there will be a camera and co2 add on as well. Now that's awesome! Hopefully gavita does something cuz nanolux is looking really appealing!
