Go to ehydroponics they may have better deals.

You can most likely buy the tent off of craigslist, i've seen them there before. Also get a 4x8 not two 4x4.

You reflector is not air cooled, plan on cooling it. I personally wouldn't run either of those brands for ballasts/ reflector but thats just my opinion. At the end of the day there all just chinese electronics anyway.!:wall:

The bulbs they give you in my opinion are questionable. i would go for something better, hortilux maybe. I can easily get hortilux 1,000 watt bulbs from retailers for 65.00 a piece. Thats not a bad price.

Can air is good. You can add something called "Ona-Breeze." This purifier is small and works good. Not a lot of people know about it.

thanks for the link. i dont have 1400 to dump on a grow tent, not including everything else. it will be easier for me to just stay a patient and buy it. this is not going to be my bread n butter, just my personal grow. not looking for the Rolls Royce of a grow room, ill settle for a camaro (manual of course). lol

First off I would not buy a grow tent. With about 100 bucks you can buy either 2x2s or 1x3s and build four simple frames to make a room of about any size from 8x8x8 down. This includes the needed wood, screws, staples, tape and panda.

Here is a quick example of Jorge building one. This one is the biggest you can go with basic 2x2s or 1x3s of 8 foot length. 8x8x8.

Here is my dry room I build for like 30 in a similar way

As for the ballasts I'd go Apollo over ipower, I use Lumatek.

The hydrofarm inline fans are great, I have a few max fans but most of mine are the regular CAP type hydrofarms. A fan speed controller or two is good to have so you can adjust fan speeds and get perfect negative pressure. A key to quieting any inline fan is ducting. Simple. Ducting of almost any length on both ends of fan will quiet them almost 50%, or a carbon filter on one end and ducting on other will quiet it even more.

Don't skimp on filters unless it's a veg room with only little to no smells. I use Can brand filter, would use nothing else. You should be able to find one to match a 4, 6, or 8" hydrofarm fan at amazon.

Use insulated ducting in areas where you want maximum quiet, regular ducting for the rest.

I purchased one of those wardrobe closets that look sorta like a grow tent! And thaats what I use, just went & got me one of those 2 $ blankets at wal mart that sorta looks like mylar, and lined it on the inside! Got the wardrobe from k mart for 20$ and it works just the same for a few plants or so!! Beats paying out the ass for a "grow tent"!!

For a grow tent I would HIGHLY recommend getting an air cooled hood for your light. Without an air cooled hood, inside a grow tent, during the summer, the battle with the heat is FUCKING WAR.

thanks, will do.

the grow will be in my basement. always nice and cool in the summer (as cool if not cooler than the house with the a/c on). no direct sunlight from either of the 2 windows.

What ? You can purchase a 4x8 tent for under 200.00 . Where does it cost 1400?

I honestly don't & won't pay no damn 200, or even 400$ for a tent, when you can go to k-mart & pick up one of those wardrobe tents/closets for 20 bucks! They work just as good imo!!

Id say go with the cool tube hood system you have linked and make sure that your fan and your carbon filter are the same diameter opening. Its just easier than having to put an extra piece between them. Also, someone suggested 1000 watt lights, i wouldnt do that, 600s are perfect for that space 4x4. If you do decide to go with a tent be careful theres alot of crap on the market. Duct tape all the corner braces and cross members in place. They break if your constantly messing with them and hanging heavy crap like fans and lights. I wish those retards would just use metal conectors instead of cheap plastic crap :):):)

ok, so i think i have it narrowed down to the chioce of these tents and light systems.

i know its not top quality high end grow equip. but i wanted to keep it on the cheap incease the grow turns out horrible. ill only be out xxx amount of money instead of xxxx amount of money. i can always upgrade in the future if needed.

tents:

what im looking for in a tent is access points for duct work/fans and openings on the side for ease to get to the plants on the back wall and sides. so i dont have to go crawling around and reaching thru the grow. and price point. tent will be x2 and will have a 4' spacing between them in my basement. i have a 87" clearance from floor to joist in the basement. should have room for a 7" tall tent.

light system. air cooled 600w. gonna go apollo as someone mentiond it might be better than the ipower brand.

600w air cooled w/reflector digi ballast, hps/mh bulbs

x2 kits ill have back up bulbs for each room.

i havenbt been able to find what cfm fan ill need. i thought i read a 440cfm would work. id rather have more air than not enough. also, being in my basement, out of direct sunlight, and the basement is always cool and comfortable, that will help keep temps down as well. now would i need a charchol filter for both rooms or only the flower room?

i have an electrician coming over tomorrow to pull some power from my box. im thinking of having 4 15 am lines pulled, and have 4 receptables mounted spread out on the back wall where my grow will be. does that sound like enough power for 2 light 600w light systems and power for 2 xxxcfm fans and 2 in tent oscillating fans? id rather have more power than not enough. at this time, there are NO plu in outlets in my basement, only ceiling light bulbs.

thanks for all the help guys. i want this to go as smooth as possible with as little headaches as possible. hence all the questions.

one more Q about airflow/fans. since ill be running the air cooled tube, the duct/fan will be routed like this: duct-fan-tent-duct-air cooled hood-duct-tent-duct-charchol filter
i still need to bring fresh air into the tent, from the lower holes, and a fan pulling tent air out as well (duct-fan-lower tent hole---duct-upper fan hole-duct-charchol filter)?
