I have a 6'x6' walk in closet I am turning into my grow room, but its in my 2nd lvl apartment.

I have 5 plants in soil with CFL and a box fan right now, but i'm converting to SoG flood/drain hydro with a 600w HPS. I know with the HPS and the extra 15 plants i will have, I will need some kind of venting and/or cooling.

Any ideas for an apartment closet? I know im not the only one growing in an apartment. Thanks.

Nobody? Come on....

I don't think i can squish a dryer tube to 1/2 inch and run it under the door. I also dont want to cut a hole in the door.

My access panel for the wet wall for my bathroom is in the bedroom, and the grow room is the closet in the bedroom. All i need is for maint. to come in to fix a water leak and wonder why I have 5 power cords going in my closet and a dryer exaust pipe coming thru the door.

Really could use some help from anyone who grows 20 or more plants in a closet.

You just answered you own question. No matter what you do, you aint gonna hide it from the maintenance dudes. Either get in REALLY good with them, or don't call maintenance. You get a leak, call a plumber QUICK!!
Besides, even tho they're supposed to give you notice before entering, it happens all the time. And a landlord isn't constrained like the cops. Anything the landlord finds and turns in to the cops is good evidence and can be used in court, illegal entry or not.
Thats just not a situation thats conducive to growing IMHO. Surely there are other options open to ya. And you're wanting to do 20 Plants??????

dont build a grow ROOM in your apartment. why dont you just build a grow box. it will cost you like 50 dollars in parts from home depot. it will be able to lock too buddy.

I already have plants in the room. Its a large walk in closet, 6x6.

I have a padlock on the door. I know it looks bad if maint. were to see it, but I'd never call them in here. Even if they get in, they would have to bust my lock off the doorframe.

I want to run a SoG, so a box wouldnt really work for me very well. Comments? Suggestions on how to run an exhaust?

WeedSeedz - I don't have an attic to work with, so I don't see how your chart is useful in this situation.

LastPirate - My dad just sold his house, and that would have been the only other place I could have done this. Hes dying for the plants I have now to start flowering. LOL. So I am kinda stuck with what I've got. My girlfriend of 3 years moved out a few months ago, and I had to stop smoking because of her. Now that shes gone, its time to get this going! I'll do my dishes and laundry if I can grow my own shit, they kinda cancel each other out.

What type of windows you got?

You can fix your exaust to a board of some kind and put it in a pull up window, you know, in the gap it will make if you pull it up.

Makes sense?

Well it does to me..

does the closet have any existing vents? if not, does it have a light fixture that gives you access to the ceiling space? do you know where the building hvac is and does it pass by the closet?

what i was gunna suggest is that you tap into your bathroom exhaust and hook a take to a air tight tube and just pipe the smell and heat right into the exhaust system and itll all be good.

granted that you can find and connect into it. most landlords dont appreciate holes in ceilings for some reason though...dont know why

Yeah, I mean A suqared. LOL. Whats up?

No bathroom fan, but there is a light in the closet I can remove to gain access to the ceiling. Where would I run it tho?

I could just replace the light with a fan but wouldnt that mold the floor above me with nowhere for moisture to go?

well you definately gotta have the exhuast run to the outside somehow. dryer vent maybe? that would also mask the smell as well.

take the fixture out and look around. if there is an hvac conduit in there you could tap into that. would have to do it such that a repair when you move would be easy. even if there's no hvac, if it is a large space connecting throughout the building then you;re ok to vent there but make sure about odor control

Also, no HVAC in the building. There are AC units in the walls of the living rooms.

I was thinking of even going as far as cutting a hole in the closet wall and running a squirrel with a dryer tube thru the wall into the bedroom. I could hide the hole in the bedroom with my 8 ft. bookcase. This is a last resort tho.

I could build a box for the window in the bedroom and run it outside, but then its clearly visable in my bedroom, which would be a big problem since it would look strange to padlock my bedroom door too.

I'm really interested in the light fixture idea. Is that now squashed since there isnt hvac?
