Aphids on harvested buds

I have a plant that was infested with aphids. The buds still smell good but they look loose and they still have some trichomes on them although some are damaged. My question is can I still smoke the buds if I wash them or is there health risks to smoking bugs?

I have an outdoor plant now that has bugs and dandilion fluff on it all over. I think I will end up squishing it all in the press and make dabs. Maybe burn some of the clean stuff.

If you have patience, a steady hand, and a keen eye, you can very softly brush them off with a feather, or even the tip of a dry leaf or stem. Takes a long ass time though if the infestation was bad... but is an option.

Buds shouldn't be harvested if they have bugs especially aphids. Spray them off before chopping real well with a hose and then use them for edibles. I would never smoke bud that had bugs at harvest.

I'm not worried about a small amount of bug stuff after decarb and making oil for edibles. Mold is another thing.

But if you had aphids and didn't spray them off and the weed dried with them I would toss that stuff.

That's too much of a Yuck factor for me.

You'd never smoke bugs but you'll eat them,. Stoner Logic,.

If you have doubt throw it out! Immune system can weird out on ya! I am NOT A DOCTOR but try explaining your illness to a doctor without the bug & other possible contaminates along with the word marijuana. Sorry! Be safe. 60× magnification device should be good enough to see the bad stuff.

My husband has diabetes and I don’t want him to smoke sh*t I’ve grown and get sick. I guess I’ll just give it to my brother and he can make oil from it. At least I got one plant this year. I started out with 5 and threw 3 away because of aphids and I gave one to my brother and he’ll get this one to >:( Next year I’m taking preventive action against these buggers. I’ve learned a lot from everyone on here and I’m sure I’ll do better next year. Might even try a indoor grow for the first time so I’m sure I’ll be back with lots more questions. Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to answer me.

Aphids dont really get disloged in a normal bud wash, you got blast them off with a garden hose nozzle that has decent water pressure.
I use doc buds example of bud washing and the first bucket kills all bugs second bucket washing away dead bugs third and fourth to rinse what’s left. You should have seen all the bugs and dirt, it was A LOT. I went through the branches after with microscope and not one bug left. Mind you this one plant wasn’t as badly infested.

Bugs won't make anyone sick, no worries there. It's just the psychological factor, if it bothers you don't smoke it, if it doesn't bother you, go for it. If you can't see them on the dried buds, then I would just smoke them. I find a good bud wash will get most things off.

What a coincidence, I came here with the same problem, I did not harvested yet

This is my most infected bud, I think I will harvest and then pick one by one from the buds before drying

Think of all the bugs that used to be smoked in mexican brick weed.
Thank god we never got any of that crap in Canada. Never seen it, never smoked it. Doubt anyone around here would have even bought it. Lots of outdoor flowing around from n ontario and Quebec back then. Cheap and decent. Prob some bugs tho lol.
