Seemed to do ok with my 600 that came with the ballast. Just easier to exchange a bad bulb from my local shop than to deal with returning them through the mail.

Got some pictures? How long have you been growing? Are you in it for the money or for personal use?

I thought you where wanting opinions on a 400w Apollo HPS bulb.
Is this what you're flowering with now and don't think it's doing the job?

I DO want your opinion on the 400w Apollo bulb. Right now both plants are inside but this bulb sucks SO bad I'm thinking about only running one plant with it. I read a review on Amazon.com and this one gentleman said the Apollo HPS bulb yield was VERY low...so that got me concerned...

So you're problem is with heat.
Just one review is not gospel.
I've flowered with cheap ass bulbs from the box stores and did fine.
You sound like you need to get you're environment in check first before you should worry about yield.

I have Apollo 600w and 1000w light systems. I don't have any complaints. They do a good job, and don't cost much. If you are not happy with the bulb, by all means buy a hortilux. The ballast and stuff from Apollo is well made and cost effective.
