Apollo, Hydrofarm, iPower, Virtual Sun.....HPS opinions anyone?

My Apollo is still running strong. I purchased a Thunder 600 because Amazon was out of Apollo 600's. The HPS bulb lasted 1 month and died. I contacted the seller (Amazon) and got the usual "pass the buck" response. I still need to replace it since I am using a MH in it's place.

I can't say enough good things about Apollo Horticulture products. Especially for the price and I've ordered through Amazon for the last 5 years and I have always been satisfied with their costumer service when I got bunk products that needed return. I've only had two orders in 5 years from Amazon that had any issue.

Apollo also offers a 3 year replacement warranty on ballasts. Idk how that compares to the others though.

I had the MH bulb go bad after a few weeks on an Apollo 600. I bypassed Amazon and called the company direct, they were able to confirm my purchase date through Amazon and I had a replacement bulb in about 3 business days. If it hasn't been too long give them a call.

Thanks for the info. It was the bulb that came with the Thunder ballast that died after 1 month of 12/12 use. I will look into it.

i dont have any of those,

i have used hortilux for years but saw a great deal on the ipower 600w a few months ago so i bought one.

there was a pretty loud sound coming from either my digital ballast or the new bulb. it sounded like the ballast was straining.


i turned it off and a couple hours later put in the old hortilux and everything sounded fine.

i ordered a hortilux and tossed the ipower.

i know some people have good luck with them. more power to you.
i'm not sure what happened, but i know the ipower bulb had something to do with it.

Best digital ballast manufacturer on the market, I came from a 600w ipower and there is absolutely no comparison. The ipower looks and feels like a toy compared to the Solis tek, I will never use anything other than Solis tek from now on, they really are that good. Just buy one and you can thank me later, its always good to have a backup ballast just in case.
