April or May?

^ Thank you, so you suggest maybe at the very earliest May 1st?
its impossible for me to tell you when to plant without knowing your exact location. A guide to go by is by finding out the last frost date for your area, simply google last frost date for your area. My last frost date is approximately may 6, that is when everything begins to grow. That is when you can have marijuana plants outdoors. Finding your last frost date will give you a good time frame on when you could grow outdoors. hope that helps, happy growing

Im on the central coast of Cali and gonna be doing 10 feminized seeds. Thinking about germinating them in a week or two and veg them 13/11 indoors under 1 400w MH till about mid April or early May should I worry about them flowering and revegging or should I be ok by then? Will they have a smooth transition from 13/11 to about 12/13 hours of daylight to continue to veG?

Or would it be better for me to germ them and have em inside for a few days then just throw them in my raised bed outside?
Just looking for the best situation for these babies and came to this forum to know whats best.

LAST frost day for me is April 28th putting them outside passed this date will allow them to continue veggin?
Thank u

The way I see it, there's a long vegging season outside. IMO (I haven't grown weed outside for nearly 20 years) plants put out a bit later tend to catch up anyway. They don't grow much when the temps are near freezing anyway. Even if the days are warm, cold nights seem to slow thing down.
As for starting on short days, no worries. If the plant does start to flower, is that a bad thing? It's only going to revert to veg but all the better for it. Look up monster-cropping.

HTP is absolutely correct... it doesn't matter at this point bc even if it does start flowering (highly doubtful as there is a premature stage where plants arent mature enough to flower regardless of photoperiod) it will reveg and you got some monsters on your hands
Ive always heard if theystart flowering and then re-veggie, you'll most likely end up with fluffy buds. True, or not? I want hard nugs. lol

Just enough supplemental to keep em from budding. So in a 10x10 greenhouse or enclosure you could get away with a single 4' 4 bulb t5 hangin high set to come on say 30 minutes before dark for enough hours afterwards to keep the lighting at a happy 16 hours of light a day. Remember that they don't flower bc of 12 hours of light but because of 12 hours of dark.

Start growing cannabis outdoors in the beginning of April. The first week, do it under a piece of glass or in a greenhouse. Yields are especially dependent on sowing time, nutrition, and sunlight.

Ive never heard of that to be honest...i am in week 2 of flower for my revegged sour diesel clones and the buds look fine but i guess i wont know the answer to your question for sure for several more weeks! But my instincts tell me that is just an urban myth....i can compare to my last pure grow, so we shall see!

Common sense is knowing the topic you are trying to discuss and also having personal experience. I actually have experience on this topic and know that sexually mature plants put out in early spring (in my case may or earlier) will go into flower. This is due to the lack of hours of light per day. Like I have already mentioned, you can start seedlings outdoors very early in the spring, as they take time to become sexually mature, by which time the length of light each day has increased. Plants will go into flower with more then 12/12 lighting, They will flower with 13 hours of light and some right up to 14 hours of light. Experienced outdoor growers know for a fact, not to put out sexually mature plants like clones until later in the spring, June in my case. They know this because it is a complete waste of time to have a plant go into flower, then slowly start to re-veg, slowing the overall vegging process by weeks, resulting in a lower yeild. In my experience re-vegged plants do not have vigorous growth and are much smaller and or stunted plants. As you said, slowly decreasing the hours of light per day, is not going to do anything, Once the plant is fully outdoors, it will still perceive the hours of light outdoors, which in early spring will cause the plant to go into flower. Now thats some golden information
This man is correct, I also have experience with the negatives of revegging from last years outdoor season. Keep in mind I'm in California and it may be different for you. I bought clones and put them outside thinking I could just throw them outside from the get go like that, I did this between March and April. I had 3 plants that revegged; Grape Ice, Blue Dream, and Superman OG. Around Mayish they started flowering which I immediately thought was odd, after a few weeks they got those famous circle leaves that indicate revegging. All of these plants were in 10 gallon pots and the yield from all of them suffered with the Superman OG never even finishing properly. The nugs were not only airy and fluffy, but they were so close to the foliage that any attempts at trimming would have been a complete nightmare. It was so bad I never even harvested the damn thing. I got a half pound from the remaining two plants.

Then there were the plants I put outdoors around May-June. I put out 2 Superman OG, 2 Blue Dream, and 1 Grape Ice. I got amazing growth from these plants, especially the ones I put out in May. The GI was put out in June so it didn't get to be nearly as huge as the Superman and BD plants. One of each BD and Superman were in my greenhouse and the other 2 were put outside the greenhouse since I didn't have room. My results were as follows. I got 1 lb from the BD and Superman in my greenhouse, the ones outside the greenhouse actually did better and yielded 1.5-2 pounds each! The Grape Ice yielded around 10 ounces, but this was the only plant I put out in June and not May and this one was significantly shorter. The ones I put out in May got HUGE. Based on all of these factors from my last outdoor season, I am going to put clones outside sometime between 4/20 and 5/10. In fact, I may put 1 out each day until the 10th and document the results for next year.

Sorry if it seemed like I was babbling, but I didn't want to just simply say May and not back it with any experience. If you have your clones vegging under 18/6 and then you throw them outdoors when it's 13/11 in March, your plants will likely start to flower. If you veg under 16/8 or even 15/9 though, you'll be golden. Yes you'll still likely be putting your clones outdoors when there's less light than was in your box, likely 14/10 but that's ok. Even though it's a decrease in hours, the plant will still sense that the days are in fact getting longer and as a result will continue to veg until the summer solstice. After the solstice you'll get a little bit more veg until you start flowering. Again, keep in mind everything I've said is because of the particular climate/hours and such of my location. These factors might be different for you and I would highly look into the solstice and when the light cycle will be 14/10 outdoors. For me, it's on 5/20 that it gets to be 14/10 outdoors.

I'm in northern cali and ill be planting may 9th. The days will be 14hrs by then and that day is a full moon. My uncle always tells me to plant on a full moon, don't know if it makes a difference or not but I do it. I always just pick the day of the first full moon in may. From my experience plantin earlier than may is not a good idea. If ur plants do start to flower early it will drastically decrease ur yield, I think if a plant does its better just to rip it up n plant a fresh one. My first year growing I planted 30 plants on 4/20 and ended up replacing everyone due to them flowering early. It wasnt til the end of may when I made my decision to replace em and I didn't get all the replacements planted til mid june. I still had a bunch top 7ft n yield more than a pound per. So basically I wasted a lot of time, energy, and money all because I was impatient n tried to get a headstart. I jumped the gun and paid for it. My advice is to not even considering puttin clones outside til may.
