there were a lot of funny shows in the 70s, but all in the family stood out because it was fucking ballsy and they were able to really go there it it was funny shit. it's hard for a show to be "ballsy" nowadays. it's either already been done or gets blown to bits by the tipper gore crowd and their pc censorship bullshit. those really WERE the days. shit like south park and family guy are as close as we're gonna get nowadays.

edit: you know what's a conspiracy? the fact that i have seen every episode of that show EVER AIRED and never ONCE do i remember seeing that scene. edit much?

How'd we go from talking about Archie Bunker days to standing up against cops?

The 70's was the epitome of coolness in America.. Blaxploitation movies, Drive-In double features, Kung Fu movies, Funk Soul music like Superfly and shit, the 70's was fucking bad ass....

Yeah, let's honor a obscenely bigotted and obese character like Archie bunker. There were a lot of great things about the 70's; racism, arrogance, homophobia, anti-semitism, etc., I watched All in the Family as a child, and looking back on it now, I can't believe my parents let me watch it at all. I do believe though, that shows with characters such as Archie helped bring about a dialogue of race and diversity, eventually.

the show clearly mocked bigotry. you make it sound as if it is a show that aimed to sanction bigotry when in fact the intent WAS to stir up dialogue. it was a very political show and it made for some very funny stuff. i contend that anyone who refers to it as "that racist show" never REALLY watched it, or if they did they completely missed the point.

Lol, I loved Archie Bunker. TV Shows of that generation were absolute classic. They tackled every issue in a humorous way. Every time I turn on the TV Im hearing about a new fuckin cop show or some type of reality series. That shit sucks ass!
