Are 315 CMH lights worth it?

For a hobby grower wanting to use HID, I'd say that a 315CMH is a great fixture. Outputs plenty of photons with decent efficiency.
Thank you for the reply.
I have used CFLs, I have used cheap blurple leds.
I am just looking for a upgrade in a new light.
I have even looked into the autocobs for a hobby grow.

I have 2 of the "open fixture" models. A single 315CMH outputs more light than a 600W HPS and the 315's bulb and ballast's heat is less than a 400W MH bulb. I'm replacing all my HID with CMH I'll be buying another 2 over the next 2 or 3 months.

Have fun

So do you think the open cmh is better than the closed one?
I use a 3x3 tent

No, I only got the open ones because there isn't anything between the bulb and and plant, and in a 3x3 tent I can't see a piece of glass making any difference.
I have a 4x4 tent with 1 CMH and it's plenty. ( the other 3 are for a 4x8 tent)

Ok thank you for the replies.
How are your buds with a 315?

On my last grow I upgraded from 1 600w HPS to 2x 315 CMH.

The results was incredible. Increased my yield by at least 30% maybe more and the buds
paid me back for the added TLC.

I believe amongst all things you can do to improve your grow, quality light is at the top of the list.:weed:

I got a few nanolux 315’s I’m using with hortilux bulbs liking them so far I think I’ll get some more here after this grow.

I'm not sure that the physics jive with this...
OK, I can't find anything definite about this, so I can only "testify". I hung a 4000k 315 CMH up with 2 600w HPS, and it seemed to me, to be as bright as either of the HPS's. That might have been because of the "shortwave ultraviolet radiation" that they talk about in the warnings.
Definitely cooler than a 400w though.

I'm not trying to bust your balls, just feeling like some of the claims being thrown out there remind me of some of the 'power' ratings of some led fixtures. I agree that a 315 will run cooler than a 400w HPS-it uses 20% less power.

All I can say is the spectrum and cri rating is very nice on the lights and look forward to the end result. I’ve noticed more trichrome production earlier than in previous grows.

You'll want some nice grow sunglasses to go with the new rig. Don't get the cheap one from growershouse. Had 2 ballasts fry in last 6 months. And don't buy a dual ballast either. You will like the light though.

I got some of the newest generation nanolux rigs. Yesterday I bought a few of the agromax 315 ballast I’ll be putting a total of six up I believe in my other room next grow. Space two foot apart. I’m still pondering on the setup. All will be known in a few weeks.

They are one of the best 3 x 3 coverage lights on the market. I had great success with my 3k phillips and got a 4k master color and i think 3k start to finish works fine.
Great light. Great trich coverage and good finished product. For personal it works very nice. You can get a pound with 4 plants and a 315 in a 3 x 3. Strain/skill dependant etc. 8 to 12 oz is easily attainable with 4 plants (photo)

I have a killawatt meter and measured it

315 with a 6 inch vortex fan and 2 other fans drew a total of 4 amps

So if you are careful and dont have microwave or whatever on the circuit it runs on a standard house circuit pretty easy no where near full load.

I agree with this. Get good UV glasses or use good ski goggles with UV protection. the 315 will fuck your eyes up faster than you would think.
