i am planning on using an inline fan to cool bolth of my growtents my Question is do i gotta use a carbon filter on the intake of the fan because i think it would be more useful to suck the hot air out and blow it through the filter does it matter what side its on

they are designed to run on the intake side of your fan but they will work either way, just pull the sock off the outside and stuff it down the center of the filter then you can "push" through it, you can skip using the sock if you like but you do so at the expense of filter life, the more shit you suck in to the carbon the shorter the life span

it wont cut down the cfm all else being equal, i used to do it in a grow i i did in a bedroom on the second story of my house and i ran the exhaust down in to the garage with the filters on the end, it really does not matter where you have the filter it matters where you pull the exhaust from, the best place is from the top of the room as im sure you know, i did it this way because i had a huge carbon filter that was to big to hang by myself

carbon filters are said to be at the most efficient pulling air through them not pushing. but you can push through them...

the point of a carbon filter is to remove smell. Why would you put a carbon filter in your intake.. so your plants wont smell your farts?

[edit]
Ah! sorry, misread that. I see you're still using it in your system exhaust, just putting it on the intake or "sucking" side of the EXHAUST fan :eyesmoke:
