Are cobs really worth it?

None of those will compete with a 1000W HPS.
I've never pulled over 0.5 g/watt with my 1k hps, I was hoping the vero 400 watt set could pull atleast 400 grams. If not then it's not worth the efficiency for the price. My light bulb is seversl years old and ballast is over 10...I'm leaning towards the 400watt or 300 watt clu kit. I can add more light after outdoor harvest but for the time being I have a crop ready to flip to flower and a bunch of mephisto gear lined up to run next. I appreciate everyone's opinions

Also if I could pull a pound off of 560 watts of mars for 0.85 dollars a watt it would be worth considering, can't be any worse then my 0.3-0.5 g/watt from my old hps

You should be able to yield a pound with a 400W vero setup, but it's not going to outyield a 1000W HPS. At this point if you're only getting 0.5g/W with HPS, it sounds there are a lot of other things you could be doing to up your game.

I've always had really shitty lights and u know that's the main contributor considering I got just over 1 g/watt with a CFL set first grow and switched to HPS and got 0.3 g/watt, heat is my main enemy...

Actually I don't know why this was upsetting to me, it just makes you lose credibility as it's completely ignorant.
How do I lose credibility?? I didn't make bullshit claims, I just pointed out they are bullshit. and they HATE to hear the truth. that is why they are so upset.:bigjoint:

I don't know about you nick. But I don't think I could grow my weed with HID lights in the cabinets I use. Too much heat for the small area. That. And from what I've tried. I like what cobs have produced.
I never said they COULDN'T grow weed, i said they didn't grow SUPERIOR to HPS weed. That is a fact,JACK!!!!

Hi all, Ive been on the fence for a year now on what to buy to replace my 1k hps and can't seem to come to a final decision. I don't want to spend a ton of money and want to be able to match my typical 1k hps harvest of 1 pound. I'm considering the 400 watt vero v29 square config kit for about 800 all in shipped but it's a bit pricy for me. Also considering 4 autocobs for like 635 but it's only 220 watts. I'm interested in a citizen set up too possibly. I have to throw in the ring that u can get two mars 600 units for 560 watt draw at 460 bucks. Is it really worth paying 2-3 bucks a wattt vs 0.85 with the mars? Either way I'd save a ton compared to the 1k hps with cooling.

There is only way to save money on electricity consumption. Use less of it.

If you have convinced yourself LED lighting can give you more buds for less electricity I would personally consider reading less biased reports on all types of Grow lighting sources.

If you only read the "Facts" from those that have spent a lot of money on LED lighting and the companies that make them you may find yourself disappointed with what you end up with.

Cannabis will reward you for choosing the best lighting source for your plants, not the ones that everyone think are the coolest of have a piece of paper attached to them with numbers saying they are great.

1k of HID is quite a thing to match with LED. Maybe look into DE HPS or CMH as another possible alternative to your current 1k setup.

Let's just agree to disagree. You like the older tech. Others like the ever improving tech.

Besides, I never said HPS can't grow weed. What I said was- I probably couldn't use them in the spaces I grow in. Neither did I say anything against the quality of HPS grown weed. I know they grow good shit. I've tried heaps of it.

You're acting like a cornered animal.

that's funny, All these led guys are so upset, yet I'm acting like a cornered animal? I'm lmfao over here at their responses, it's exactly what I expected.:blsmoke::bigjoint:

and what is it you are disagreeing with me about? You think LED grows weed that is superior to hps grown? because that is the only thing I have said this whole thread.

I'd be happy to use both if I had the room. But, I chose cobs because they run far cooler than high pressure sodium or metal halide. Not only that. Having a bulky reflector to redirect light didn't make sense. Not when a cob points most of its light where it's needed... At the plants.

So many reasons that leds are clearly better, but you're preaching to both the choir and the deaf and dumb :lol::lol:

hey, that is great, I am so glad that LED light works for you and others. I am sure it is a good choice for a light.
BUT, why do LED users think their weed is better than everyone elses?
