tric's are the most reliable way to determine if they are done. No one here can honestly tell you that no matter what they say, unless you have a macro lenses that will allow you to photograph the trics up close to determine where they are in the process. Sativas and indica trics are different. Indica you want about 1/3 to be amber and sativas just before they turn amber. Remember they will continue to ripen for 3-5 days after you harvest while drying.
Its like what stonedmetalhead1 says, you need to know your strain and its genetics. Also read a lot and do your own due-diligence on your own grow. Take everything with a grain of salt.
