Are 'nanner-made seeds bad?

I grew some Chemdozer a few years ago. I found a seed in one of the buds. I kept it and grew it out. It grew even better and the smoke was as good as the original. At this point, I've had several different strains do the same thing.....one or two good seeds in a random bud....obviously made from a 'nanner that got buried in the flower. Every time, the smoke ended up being good.

At this point, I don't mind finding a seed or two in a bud -especially if the plants grow well and produce some good smoke. I think it happens a lot these days due to the complexity of the hybrids. I used to think that I had light leaks or that I was doing something to stress the plants. I don't think that anymore, in most cases.

As long as the "nanners" formed in late flower and were not terribly abundant, it's fine. In late flower plants will often "rodelize" (produce nanners), it's the plant's last ditch effort to pass it's genes to the next generation. If the nanners occur early in flower, are abundant, or there's actual "balls", then I wouldn't propagate them. Light leaks as a source of hermies is greatly overblown, IMHO. We've maniplulated/bred marijuana, often without many controls or knowledge (pollen chucking), and again, IMHO the haphazard breeding is what's causing a lot of the issues.

I’ve had a similar thing happen a few times with seeds popping up in my buds, and they always grew into good plants with solid smoke. I used to worry about light leaks or stressing the plants too much, but now I’m just kind of used to it, especially with all the hybrids out there.

For flower it's ok we really shouldn't breed with anything like that in a ideal world though

I usually use my nanner seeds for my outdoor grows. Haven’t had any herm issues so far. Its free fem seeds for outdoor. I don’t like paying for seeds that might end up lost to mold outside so it works out nice.

Late flowering “nanners” are just a last ditch reproduction effort and are no different than selfed with silver. Early nanners or straight up balls are genetic hermaphrodites and will likely pass on that trait
