Are organic buds smaller?

Hi, I am using the Fox Farm Nutes. I am using the liquid ones and the solubles. I cut out the Grow big. I am in week 7 of flowering. i was wondering if the bud would get bigger because it looks like it's not anything spectacular as far as quantity goes?, but it is drenched in crystals. I was also wondering when i should stop the nutrients because the top hairs on the main cola are starting to turn amber? I could post a pic if that helps? Any help is needed and greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention this is really good bagseed. Therefore i do not know the strain so i cannot determine the length of flowering time.

thanks alot for your help. Would anyone have an idea as to how long i should continue to flower this? I heard the plant should look yellow when it is done, but mine is still really green, alive and well.

Well there not really supposed to be yellow but its alright if it is near the end more like trying to correct the problem that late in the game would leave your product un-flushed and harsh. Its really best if you keep em green.

Heres what i hear about the subject. i have quite a few buddies that grow mmj and i do myself. all them organic all the way expect one who
uses hydro buckets but he runs pbp grow, bloom, calmag, and sweet at the end. the hydro guy says you want the leaves really yellow to show a good flush and he produces great tasting clean nugget, all of my other friends say you want yellow leaves. one of them likes them to get to about 50 percent yellow and 50 percent greenish. in my experience the plants that look all yellow and kind of dying taste the best, green plants that have been flushed still taste good. the one who swears by the 50/50 flushes for a full month before he pulls.

h2alo1: hate to break it to you but fox farms nutrients are not organic, i know one of their grow nutrients are but thats it. all the rest are not organic.

I would like debunk the myth about yellowing perpetuated in this post. You are correct in some cases about yellowing, and you bring up the importance of senescence in smoke quality.

Yellowing of fan leaves during the last two weeks is a good thing in general. I allow/encourage yellowing to become advanced by harvest, beyond the fan leaves and into the leaves that will get hashed. BUT some strains will not yellow like this. It really depends on the genetics. Some strains will finish a lighter shade of green than during most of the life cycle, and some will yellow. IMO most healthy organic plants will also show reds/purples regardless of genetics if the environment is dialed.

month flush - now that's what I'm talking about :) your friend knows how to make the best smoke, and i'll bet it's all personal.

If you want fox farm organics I believe that there peace of mind line is all organic but its a dry insoluble. but no there liquid solubles are not all organic there just organically based.

dont just go by hairs changing to show when finish

did you flush yet

you go by trichomes more as a guage then the hairs as you call them

you truly go by whole package to show finish it will look ripe and ready lik a piece of fruit

finish can not be judged by any one thing for all diff plants some vary

can not just go by hairs or just go by trichomes

look at whole plant whole bud recognize what finish looks like see the worm ambr hue

If ya leaves are turning and curling upwards ya still got plenty of time. the calyxes will swell and become more dense
in the final weeks of flowering. For sure way to tell is to get a microscope from radioshack for 20 bucks. Look at the
trichs (Crystals) and depending on type of "Buzz" you want you go from there. i like having 70-80% trichs smokey/cloudy/amber
colored before setting into 72hrs of dark.

Be sure to flush out ya nutes you'll wanna stop feeding them to your plant(s) right around 2 weeks; flush well!! ((Better you flush
better the flavor))

might have posted this once already, my computer skills go to shit when i smoke, anyway... i always thought the truest way to tell when the girls are done is when the pistils receed back into the bud. i could be wrong but i was under the impression this was the most "universal" way to tell. of course raffiki makes a good point as far as cutting earlier for a more head high and letting it go longer for a more body stone.

I used to go with trichs as my main indication, then I read this: http://tehbosh.blogspot.com/2010/04/harvest-time-or-is-it.html

I'm glad I did, I learned to read other parts of my plant and I feel I have tastier buds now
Wow Excellent info....I had not read about the receding pistils as a sign of ripeness but it makes total sense to me. Seems that the color/cloudiness of tricomes could be very strain specific and receding pistils would be more of a overall sign of ripeness.

You did not mention what kind of lights your using, if you dont have HID then dont expect anything that big unless your very lucky with first grow, more wattage will bring more size more than any food you give

I'm with Upthearsenal, because the thichs are a huge part of what gives you your psychedelic high. And by judging from the color of them, I would feel is a better indication. I also noticed that when I had a problem with a plant in the past and had to spray it with azatrol or whatever, the hairs would always die away and the crystals would pretty much not be damaged. And when you think about it deeper, when you make either butter or honey oil, you extract the trichomes, which are oil based! You could have stressed the hell out of a plant and it wont look like it's done, but it's week 10 and your trichomes are amber and your buds are airy. Grower or Genetic error the Trichomes never lie!

Go by the trichomes.

We do not know much about Marijuana scientifically, but we do know you go by the trichomes.

Learn your trichomes and you learn control of the effect. ;)
