Are sterile pollen sacs a thing? / Sensi Northern Lights #5 x Haze

My last round I had a couple of bad timer mishaps about a week into flower that almost ruined my crop. Three of the four plants (all completely different strains from feminized seeds) grew pollen sacs a couple weeks or so after the timer problems. I hand picked them off and two of the three affected plants stopped producing them after just a few days of careful maintenance. My Northern Lights #5 x Haze however was in the back where I could not reach or see as well and it was overtaken with at least 1 pollen sac per bud site, maybe more on a 3' tall plant. A few of the sacs had made it to the point of opening. About 4 weeks into flower I had to destroy that plant and carefully extract it.

Somehow.... magically... I finished the grow and have not found any seeds in any of the other 3 plants.

I have had bad luck with that Sensi strain and I think I got a bad batch. Only 2 out of 10 seeds germinated. I ran 8 of them shortly after getting the seeds at least 4 years ago and only one germinated. It thrived but I had to stop growing before I got to flower it. Now this latest old seed I got to germ was the LAST one I had. It was a runty thing from the beginning, way behind in every regard but she took off and caught up with the others I had started LATER as soon as I put her in flower. RIP.

Was really looking forward to trying that strain! I am now a little over 3 weeks into flowering a clone of that plant under pretty perfect conditions and it has happened again!!!! The day before yesterday I noticed and carefully removed about 15 well formed pollen sacs from all up and down the plant. I wet each and broke each open to find no pollen. I don't know if they were immature or if there is the possibility this plant is producing sterile balls? Agh!!! I still don't want to give up. I am less afraid of 'hermies' now than most I'd bet and am wondering my chances of trying to manage this beast. The clone is a MUCH smaller plant than its mother/father/thing so my gut says try vigilance to see if this is something resolvable. What do you guys think I should do? Anyone have any experience like this with this strain? So fracking expensive and so much hype!!! Am I too optimistic here?

Ugh, the stakes are high. She is growing alongside some impressive plants I don't want pollinated.... Pennywise and Space Candy from TGA (genetic females from regular seeds) along with DNA's Skywalker Kush (feminized). Plus, I'm moving to a not so friendly state soon, so this is my last grow.

Sterility in herming - is a factor.

In plants that throw naners. Over 70% of those are generally sterile..... Water destroy's pollen and it's ability to pollinate flowers.

Are they actually throwing balls? Or are they making banana's?

As for the Sensi brand and it being old....Makes sense, in a way...

Hermies can make seeds, and lots of them at that, if you are seeing nanners and pollen sacs it's time for that plant to get the axe.

kill all confused plants in flower at once.

how would any open pollinated flowers propagate in the rainy seasons/sprinklers? not arguing I've pondered this for years

Just cull that plant. Not worth risking the other ones.

She is actually throwing balls, no nanners. At least two more appeared today. I guess it's curtains for this plant.

Open pollinated plants are fertilized far less in wet weather than in dry weather. Environmental parameters have to be right but it doesn't take much at all for pollination to happen. Plants are so evolved. ESPECIALLY WEED. I do wonder if wet cannabis pollen once dry is again virile? Does not seem so. Interesting ponderance.

I don't think I've heard of any wild growing cannabis in the rainforest. Most plants can't take constant moisture. Thinking about all this it makes sense the land races come from some super arid places. I think they all do but correct me if I'm wrong!

There is one underneath probably 1/4 of the bud sites. RIP.

No, once wet, it's done! Even high RH values kill it.

I have had nanners appear late in flower which I just pick off. Never had much more than a very few seeds with nanners late. However, this plant is throwing nuts rather early and has the potential to wreak havoc on your Grow.

I grew hazes and haze crosses when I was new to this. Hazes will break your heart with hermies from time to time. I always try to have some Peak Seeds BC Northern Skunk around which is a great NL crossed with a Peak Sweet Skunk. Similar mix but less troubles. A personal fave.
