im growing with a friends mom and she always wants the more energy efficient way of growing. She was told that the t5 fluorescent lights with the red spectrum would be great for flowering. dont know anything about flouros with different spectrum and its 40k lumens for 6 plants in a 5x4 growroom

hey work great! but I would not claim them to necessarily be more energy efficient as add up the fl bulb amount and consumption and a lot of times hids are much more efficient than fls.

i just posted a longer version of this in another thread here, but in short, the answer is no. sure, it CAN be done, with a lot of bulbs and coverage, but your best bet would be to stick to hps. i tried for the longest time to be a believer in t5 lighting, didnt want to make the "less energy efficient" switch to hps, but boy am i glad i made the switch.
