What are the drawbacks of starting seeds in jiffy pellets if you untend to transpant to dwc (they would eventally dry up as I stop watering the pellets when they are in the system. no mess or clogs to worry about.) Mainly I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks whatsoever if your using dwc. Im new and I started 2 test batches; 1 in pellets, 1 in RW. All pellets thrived, all RW died. I cant fuck up next time so I dont really wanna use the RW, what are you r guys' thoughts? cheers!

I germ my beans like usual and throw them into jiffy pellets until ready to transplant, usually 2-3 inches and I wash off all dirt form the roots and throw them into rockwool so it wont clog the pump.

i jus germinate my seeds in a clear cup in the dark for a couple days til the roots are about 3/4's inch long, before used jiffy pellets with success and recently tried rockwool with 6 out of 6 success just soaked the rw in water squeezed out a little water, placed the seeds in the holes and put the cubes in a blue rubbermaid tub(my own humidome) sittin on a heating pad to get humidity and warmth and they sat about 14 inches under my t5 flourescents and they all worked just great. just gotta make sure they get moisture, humidity, and warmth & light; just like clones;)

i know yur the man with stats but may i ask if u know that rockwool is slightly alkaline and need to be soak in about 5.5ph low nute solutin. for a few hours then after that just place your seed in them and place a humididty dome over them and dont water till the rock wool is completly dry... with a humidity dome that it take like 4-6 days for them to dry out and my seeds always germ and sprout before i have to water again.

oh and if rock wool dose not work for u i wouldnt use juffy pellets, just get an old egg carton fill them with sand and water with ver low nute for the first few times.. the sand will wash off a lot easier than dirt
