Seedlings cracked last Thursday 9/19. Had them under 2 26w 6500 & 2700 each. Currently just in solo cups w the jiffy pellets and MG soil, until I replant into FF soil. Had some heat problems so I threw a fan in there and took the 2700's out for now. Definitely needs better ventilation, to be done this week, but does anyone see anything else wrong? Is the fan drying out the leaves?

They should be in happy frog lightly watered with a spray bottle and gentle elements. They don't need much as far as light, water and wind. And they sure don't need any nutes. They are just trying to get that taproot planted. Looks like whatever is in the mg soil and the heavy overwatering is what is wrong with them. Remember the soil is allready moist. If you can get them in happy frog carefully and lose the other stuff, then leave them be they will recover. Hope you got a steady hand. Once you got a established plant you can put them in a 50/50 mix of ffhf and ffof. Go with the ffhf. Theres no help in the mg with drainage.

Just some friendly advice, when giving others advice it is a good idea to say things like "in my experience this works well" or "these products may help" instead of telling him "get this stuff now" and "you need to put them in this soil". Everyone grows differently and what works for you, may not work for someone else. You wanna help the guy, not force the products and techniques you use onto him.

Your absolutely right. My apologies. He is leaning towards ff soil so thats why I said that. If he said he was going with promix or something else I probably would have left this thread alone as ffof and ffhf are the only soils I have experience with. Just trying to help with what I can.

It caused me problems when I used it for my seedlings. I switched to happy frog and haven't had any more problems with nitrogen abundance.

agreed. Imo ffof is overrated. I used it for my first and second grows and I found it pretty unforgiving coupled with my inexperience. It frustrated me so much that I ditched soil all together and went for soilless coco. Smooth sailing ever since. Plenty of people swear by the stuff though.

Its super easy, at least for me. It is considered an inert medium which means there it has no nutrient value what-so-ever. Its pretty much just a place for the roots to grow, but it holds liquid like soil so you don't need a reservoir like hydro. It is a little more labor intensive since there is nothing in the medium you have to feed them from the beginning, but you more or less have control over everything that the plant is taking in. Its all preference though, I really like mixing nutes and stuff like that so its fun for me but some people like that plant a seed and sit back and relax type of deal you get with soil. I use the Canna coco line and it is pretty much idiot proof because you can follow a schedule they give you on their website. I love it, my plants grow twice as big twice as fast.
