I don't believe chemical salt has an expiration date.
I kinda figured.Agreed^^^^^
If they become hard or clump up with a sponge like feeling to them I toss them dry nutes are cheap enough to run out and get fresh but if they're still powdery what not use them.I kinda figured.
Thx
Dry nutes are generally fine unles theyharden up then I just toss it in the composter or outside where my garden goesI am not sure about it.
Those will kill the microbial life in your compost , i wouldn't put salts in a compost. Also they are really not good to allow to drain into your water supply. Farm fertilizer run off, That's what you are doing when you do that, it's not only bad for you but also bad for your community.Dry nutes are generally fine unles theyharden up then I just toss it in the composter or outside where my garden goes
Why call it chemical salt? All salts are chemical whether organic or inorganic. All life and inanimate things are chemical. Chemicals are the basis of everything yet the people spit when they say "chemical" this or that like it's a bad thing.I don't believe chemical salt has an expiration date.
That my friend is totally wrong unless you overdose with salts. Scare mongering. Those will kill the microbial life in your compost
Any amount of salts in organic soil will harm microbial life, you might wanna read up on soil science, i'd start with teaming with microbes. Why call it chemical salt? It's how the various chemicals are combined to make compounds that determines whether they are safe or toxic. There are millions of chemical reactions going on in your body 24/7.
There are thousands, if not millions of salt compounds.

Well, generally salts are the form of nutrients available in the soil solution. Perhaps you need to learn / understand what salts are. They are ionic solutions formed by a reaction between acids and bases. The H+ portion of the an acid is replaced by by a metal (usually) cation. NaCl is of course the basic "salt" we identify with, but there are hundreds of other salt solutions beneficial to plants. Hell required.Any amount of salts in organic soil will harm microbial life, you might wanna read up on soil science, i'd start with teaming with microbes.
There's a huge difference between small amounts of salt ion's produced and pouring harmful caustic chemical salts on your soil. There's a reason you shouldn't even be pouring this stuff down the drain, it is very harmful and cancer causing. This stuff also completely destroys your soil, after using salts the soil is damaged beyond repair, the only way for plants to continue to grow in it is to use more salts, which not only destroys the soil but also runs off into water supplies causing contaiminated water.Well, generally salts are the form of nutrients available in the soil solution. Your growing medium, if it is healthy, has many "salts" in the soil solution.
OK. Fine. There's a huge difference between small amounts of salt ion's produced and pouring harmful caustic chemical salts on your soil. There's a reason you shouldn't even be pouring this stuff down the drain, it is very harmful and cancer causing.
Bottled nutrients/dry salt fertilizers they are unsafeOK. Fine.
What is the "stuff" being poured down the drain ? That is "very harmful" ?
Oh, yes, salts. Now I get it.
Now there's some trump inspired scare mongering if I've ever read it.There's a huge difference between small amounts of salt ion's produced and pouring harmful caustic chemical salts on your soil. The salts used in fertilizers are extremely toxic, that's why it's advised to not put them down the drain, i think you totally are clueless about what i am talking about. Table salt is totally different than salts used to make fertilizers. Now there's some trump inspired scare mongering if I've ever read it.
The pink Himalayan sea salt I use lots of every day is 42% NaCl and the rest is 83 other mineral salts. Before you get on your soapbox about the dangers of consuming salt you should know that I suffer from dangerously low blood pressure on occasion and the only treatment is more salt and caffeine.
Like most people I have avoided excess salt thru my adult life and now that I'm almost 63 the low BP I have had since a child is becoming chronic and could actually cause my demise.
Salts causing cancer? I'm sure there are some that could. Hopefully those kind of salts aren't used in decent grow nutes but ones like Miracle-Gro and Shultze's are known to have high levels of heavy metals that come in the form of salts due to the low quality of their sources for manufacture.
Salts are not caustic either unless they are salts like NaOH/caustic soda/lye/sodium hydroxide. There are lots of acid salts too.
Your use of chemical terminology betrays your ignorance in the chemical sciences so maybe it's best to remain silent and be thought a fool than by speaking up remove all traces of doubt.
